4/1 for promotion
16/1 to win it.
Value to be had?
I've not bet on the O's for 25+ years, but I've made an investment that will cover next years season ticket as I think 4/1 (I got a boosted 9/2) was fair value.
Are we investing or keeping our money in our pockets?

Re: 4/1 for promotion
Same. Don’t see much value. We have only bought in one starter to replace another starter. Moncor could be anything at this level but it’s unknown how he will perform. Wellens obviously a positive but new manager bounce only last season? Again an unknown until we start a season winning games. Dealing with the knowns, it’s effectively the same team that finished mid table and the league is stronger this year. If we make a couple more good signings then fine. Can talk.
The majority of fans are bullish over their teams chances before the season starts so putting aside the natural tendency to be overly positive and expect another grind and I would be over the moon with a play off spot.

We make the signings and the value narrows. I just thought, that for once, it was a bet worth making.Beradogs wrote: ↑Fri Jul 01, 2022 1:50 pm Same. Don’t see much value. The last time I bet on the O's to go up though, we were away at Chester over the xmas period needing a win to avoid being cut adrift at the bottom of the league!!

Re: 4/1 for promotion
If you want to go for it , do it, as you have as much chance as anyone on here of getting it right. Too many so called experts on here in reality haven’t got a clue how it will go next year, so follow your gut instinct and go for it, as long as you can afford to lose it if we don’t go up …..Up the O’sLittleMate wrote: ↑Fri Jul 01, 2022 1:56 pmWe make the signings and the value narrows. 4/1 to be in L1 next season is a fair bet, it’s just one of those pre-season bets you won’t see any return on for 10months, but if you fancy it go for it

Re: 4/1 for promotion
Ill offer you that bet if you are interested - I give you 20/1 if we finish 13th or below, and you give me 10/1 if we finish 12th or above?
£100?

I agree. If we can make another couple of good signings I think we can actually make the automatic promotion spots . Saying that though I have a feeling this season League 2 will be at its strongest since we came up .

Re: 4/1 for promotion
I ran my own businesses for 27 years before retiring 3 years ago. That was the biggest gamble for me so I have neither gambled or even bought a lottery ticket in the last 30 years.
But I’d say 4/1 are good odds

Re: 4/1 for promotion
8th favourite for promotion. In all honesty I’d say that’s probably fair. I expect we’ll be on or two punters “dark horses”
First time in a while I feel genuinely confident going into a season. Feels like we have the right manager, right board/owners and with one or two further tweaks, the right squad too.
It’s going to be a right old slog but I would be surprised if we weren’t top 10 minimum come May

Re: 4/1 for promotion
Not with the current squad depth, thought Moncur is a marked improvement on Kyprianou we were short of at least 3 pros last season and what with Khan leaving we're still down on numbers.

8th favourite to go up and 4-1 is the bit that doesn't strike me as valueJman wrote: ↑Fri Jul 01, 2022 7:22 pm 8th favourite for promotion. In all honesty I’d say that’s probably fair. I expect we’ll be on or two punters “dark horses”

Top ten minimum, blimey. So on that basis it sounds like you would be reasonably satisfied if we finished in tenth position?Jman wrote: ↑Fri Jul 01, 2022 7:22 pm 8th favourite for promotion. In all honesty I’d say that’s probably fair. I expect we’ll be on or two punters “dark horses”

Re: 4/1 for promotion
No I wouldn’t be satisfied. But my point is more that I expect us to be up there, whether we fall short is another matter but entirely plausible. Reiterating my point that I think the bookies having us down as 8th favourite to win promotion is probably fair.
I genuinely think we could be anywhere as near top come May down to mid table, but I do think we’ll make a go of it this year. Just has that feeling to it, the right ingredients feel to me all in place.
Of course with Orient this probably means the exact opposite will happen now
