Isn’t bad but is weak in midfield and we are still short on depth,
We need a first choice, experienced holding CM to cover the defence and collect the ball from them, we also need a first choice creative ACM to ensure Smyth can play further forward.
Other than that, we just need more cover.

Re: Current Orient Squad
I would like to see 5, but will prob only be 3, but that’s just my wish list.
1 x LB
2 x CM
1 x RW
1 x No9 goal scorer
Sweeney not good enough for L2
Kyp gone
Pratley cannot play week in week out
Clay coming back from bad injury and will also cover RB
Other CM are young and inexperienced, so we need 2 CM.
Wings we have Theo on left & Khan on Right, but we need a RW, to give Khan competition, but can also cover Theo on the left.
Up front A young Kevin Campbell on loan from Prem team would be nice, Scarlett from Spurs)

Re: Current Orient Squad
No one plays 4-4-2 anymore, where you need 2 CMs who can do a bit of everything. The box to box, tackling, passing, scoring midfielder is a thing of the past.LittleMate wrote: ↑Thu Jun 23, 2022 5:08 am110% the midfielder and I would not argue against the other twoLong slender neck wrote: ↑Wed Jun 22, 2022 11:13 pm Box to box midfielder

If we're going with 3 at the back again then yeah, you're right, we do need a 5th CB.

Re: Current Orient Squad
There may be some disgruntled players, because the squad is large
As an example, there are four Centre Backs, and only 2 will play, meaning 2 wont play. ( RW has already says he prefers 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1)
The 2 CB's who dont play will get fed up after a while.
Same thing may happen in midfield, and if more players are added to the squad, the 'problem' gets worse too

Thommo can and will cover at RB. Ogie can and will cover at LB. We will sometimes play 3 CBs. Players will get injured and pick up suspensions.Qin wrote: ↑Thu Jun 23, 2022 10:41 am There may be some disgruntled players, because the squad is large

4 CBs is fine if we’re going to play 4 at the back but if 3 at the back is a possibility, we need another one.

Surely other clubs are in the same position . The modern game now requires you have a strong squad . During the season and for various reasons I'm sure the squad will rotate .Qin wrote: ↑Thu Jun 23, 2022 10:41 am There may be some disgruntled players, because the squad is large

Re: Current Orient Squad
Exactly, you want players who keep themselves ready to step in and make a place their own. Like Wellens said if another CB comes in for Ogie first game and plays well then Ogie will have to wait for his chance.RedDwarf 1881 wrote: ↑Thu Jun 23, 2022 11:20 amSurely other clubs are in the same position . The loan window being removed a few seasons back means you have to start with a large squad in August else by the time you can top up with reinforcements in January you've already lost ground over the winter fixtures.

Re: Current Orient Squad
RW has said on different occasions:
We may bring a young CB in.
We need a number 8 and also suggested 2 new midfielders.
A young striker on loan.
3-4 players in.
But some may be moved on.
The new substitute rule may have changed his thoughts slightly.
I thought the fixtures were interesting from the point of view of how few Tuesday games we have, which is 4. Obviously cup games, but unless we have either good cup runs or many cancelled matches the first team players will be fit most weeks.

Re: Current Orient Squad
Those 3-4 pretty much matches what many of us been thinking for a while. I just hope RW isn't "persuaded" to cut back on that and use what he has in the hope they'll come good.Still's Carenae wrote: ↑Thu Jun 23, 2022 5:24 pm RW has said on different occasions:

Also hoping many of the academy players will be sent out on loan to NL to toughen up like Ogie did. The midfield players particularly looked really lightweight last season.

Spen. Tell me your thought processes about Tuesday night injuries and I will tell you why playing Saturday, Tuesday, Saturday, tuesday etc causes injuries.
