Couldn't give a toss.

An England line up that has barely (or ever) played in a match together before that are playing nothing more than a glorified friendly, hence the reserve team.

I agree, this is a nothing tournament, but if England have a poor World Cup, I expect Southgate will be gone.

He is only in the job because any decent manager wouldn't want it. The best managers are employed by club sides. It's not a job that managers want anymore, of course if you are English it has a certain attraction but who was the last English manager to have any sort of success at club level?

If you're a decent English club manager and see the man who took England to their first final in over 50 years getting absolutely roasted by fans and press, you wouldn't touch the job, it's toxic.

And the worst home defeat in 94 years. Don't forget that bit.

Grealish played well coming on as a sub against Germany, ran at their defence, set up a few chances including the one that lead to Kane's penalty equalizer and all that Southgate could say about the performance of Grealish is that he needs to do more defending than he does at present, laughable !
So he got Grealish defending more against Italy and it blunted his game, OMG, I guess that if Southgate had been around at the time and had Jimmy Greaves in his team, he would have wanted him to do more defending as well !

Wow! 94 years! Do we know who beat them then? Must've been a really good team?

I'm glad you asked that. I am able to inform you that it was the Scotchjocks who literally PUMPED them 5-1 at Wemberlee.

Despite their PUMPING last night we must not forget the wonderful football they played last summer, smashing the Germans 2-0, Ukraine 4-0, Croatia 1-0 and Scotchland 0-0.

He's gone from waistcoat to jackett in 12 months.

Actually pleased we lost. If only to pee off the pitiful whiners that scweam and scweam whenever the team they 'support' loses. Plenty of those on here.

Just a glorified friendly. That team had never played together before.

Had we equalised at 0-1 we would have won the game imo: we just got caught pushing up- repeatedly.

Grealish doesn't start, because cameos are his thing- he's better when the opposition are tired. Looked great in an average team (Villa), but average in a great team (City). Nothing special.

To delusional England fans - the player that Isn't playing is always the answer, which ain't the case with Jack

I genuinely didn’t know England had played til the following morning. Stupid competition, and anyway it’s all about the Test series right now.

I doubt he would take us forward. He's a man from yesteryear, and also much over-hyped.

I didn't really want Southgate to get the job but he's done well overall. It's pretty clear that for years there were a lot of players who viewed playing for England as a chore. There was no cohesion or team spirit. Southgate has been lucky in some ways. Draws at tounaments have been kind and he's has a decent group of players to chose from. However, there were plently of previous managers who've had decent squads but have acheived absolutely nothing. The so called "Golden generation" were exposed as second rate charlatans over and over again. Southgate has managed to create what looks like a decent spirit in the England camp and his record in major tournaments is very good. I wish people would get off his back.

If I was to tell you only San Marino have scored fewer goals than England in this Nations Cup thing would that change your mind?

I've never been on Southgates back, but I'm now beginning to lose faith. He's too negative. He shut up shop, after we took the lead, in last years final against Italy and then we lost. He keeps sodding around with Grealish, and doesn't use the attacking Trent Arnold etc, etc. Maybe he should look at what happened when our cricket team decided to attack..
