They're all entitled to legal aid despite entering the UK illegally
A right a large number of taxpayers are not entitled to
"All asylum seekers in the UK, including those being considered for relocation under our partnership with Rwanda, have access to legal aid and we spent £30m on this last year".

Tonight's flight to Rwanda is cancelled.
Priti Patel must be spitting feathers.
All decent people are shocked and appalled by the horrible policy.
Let's hope it's scrapped

She won’t be at all. Both her and Johnson can’t lose on this one. Succeed in deporting asylum seekers to Rwanda and they’ve thrown a suitable chunk of red meat to racists up and down the land.ComeOnYouOs wrote: ↑Tue Jun 14, 2022 11:03 pm Tonight's flight to Rwanda is cancelled.

Failure means they can point at lefty lawyers or the ECHR and blame them instead. Either way they’ll escape any scrutiny from most of the electorate who’ll be suitably diverted by looking at this rather than seeing what an utter clusterfuck this lot have turned the country into.
The culture war continues. Expect an assault on lawyers / judges / ECHR from the Murdoch / Rothermere press tomorrow.

How about you stop calling people that want border controls like just about every country in the world racist. You are supposed to be a mod.Admin wrote: ↑Tue Jun 14, 2022 11:30 pmShe won’t be at all. Re: Migrants crossing the channel
There are roughly 5 billion people living in what can loosely be described as countries less desirable than Britain. Economically, socially etc. Are you saying that if those 5 billion people wanted to, they could all jump on a rickety old boat and come to the UK? What is your answer? Its plainly ridiculous. As long as you feel good about yourself though right. Never let the facts get in the way of a good bit of virtue signalling which is fine, ‘‘twas ever thus with the left but then calling everyone that can see its not sustainable, racist, sticks in the claw a bit.

The conundrum continues.
I think its a bit mad that people can claim asylum in any country they like.

Looks like that really upset him judging by the registration attempts that came in overnight.

Re: Migrants crossing the channel
Oh do shut up you complete bore. The policy of shipping people to Rwanda is racist and if you support a racist policy, that makes you a racist. Amazing that the UK can offer immediate asylum to Ukrainians (including paying uk residents to house them) but is quite content to ship brown and black refugees to a country with a shocking human rights record.Beradogs wrote: ↑Wed Jun 15, 2022 7:22 am There are roughly 5 billion people living in what can loosely be described as countries less desirable than Britain. I have no issue with border controls. Process properly via safe routes and return where necessary. The French offered to house a processing centre for the uk at Calais yet this government turned it down.

Yep - it’s a very slight leap from “we’ve got to do SOMETHING” to “let’s spend unbelievable amounts of money attempting to (illegally?) fly a few people to Rwanda”.

Is there a scheme where people can offer to house Asylum Seekers and not just Ukrainians?

I’m intrigued as to just how far Bera is going to descend. It’s a fascinating watch.

You can see why some people might think that’s a teeny bit racialist.
