Even Fergie made mistakes, and of course so has Ling. But his successful signings far outweigh his failures

Re: Signings
I completely agree with this .Top of the JES wrote: ↑Thu Jun 09, 2022 4:33 pmFar from obvious that James and Theo would (re)sign. James is the best right back in League Two and I suspect he could easily play in League one or the Championship, as for Theo there were several clubs interested in him. Granted we were his number one choice but Lincoln could have made it much more dificult for him to leave as he was under contract.
Well done to Lingy for securing Theo, Ruel, Adam and Tom for two more years, he's made mistakes in the past but he's bang on so far this summer.

You prove me wrong, including all signings of players under Ling including loans and all Managers (Head Coaches) since he joined as DOF.

Re: Signings
All this praise for Ling, is a little misplaced.
How it works : Wellens tells ling, he'd like to keep hold of Theo, so Ling ( whose job it is) contacts Lincoln and does the business.
It wasnt Ling that decided to keep Theo, it was Richie........Lings job is to bring in players the Head Coach/Manager wants

Re: Signings
This wasn't necessarily a straightforward signing even though Theo had, at the end of the season, stated that he wanted to be back this season.
Firstly there was the change of Lincoln manager and the fact that the new guy might have wanted to keep Theo. Then there was the transfer fee and then there was the sell on clause that Lincoln wanted.
So well done Ling for making this happen and the Board for supplying the transfer funds. Plus RW for making Theo feel wanted.

Also Lincoln didn't want him and that helps too.

You present a simple signing as if it's some sort of major coup that Ling pulled off against all the odds. It wasn't.

Spot on, I don’t hate Ling.In my view he is a long way of being a legend , Laurie Cunningham was a legend it’s like comparing a mini to a Rolls Royce,Chief crazy horse wrote: ↑Fri Jun 10, 2022 11:14 am Because we don't see Ling as a legend, doesn't mean we hate him.

Ling does all the hard work in negotiating with Lincoln on a fee . Theo always wanted to stay so convincing him was never a problemQin wrote: ↑Thu Jun 09, 2022 11:07 pm All this praise for Ling, is a little misplaced.

Of course we did because Theo was still under contract at Lincoln . I wouldn't have thought they would have released him for nothing .Gary the Plumber wrote: ↑Fri Jun 10, 2022 6:47 pmWe really paid a fee?moonwalk19 wrote: ↑Fri Jun 10, 2022 5:45 pmLing does all the hard work in negotiating with Lincoln on a fee .
