On BBC Breakfast yesterday, a union leader was saying they want guaranteed job security … when rail usage is down and companies are running emergency timetables. Emmmm?

Since Covid, more people are working from home, and not commuting. This is good for the masses with less time wasted commuting and less fossil fuels used. However as a consequence we are now running less trains, train companies have less income, and we need fewer drivers. Your solution is to make no train drivers redundant and to pay them more money. Meanwhile we have a shortage of lorry drivers.

Today Scotchrail reached an agreement with their drivers on pay and soon the 700 a day missing trains should reappear. Huzzah.

Electric trains are carbon neutral whereas lorries are not, perhaps those fat cats could take a massive pay cut. Your solution is to put all drivers and other railway workers on the dole!!! That will be a good burden for the tax payer

and rostered Sundays. Resigned to losing my job this/next year as well as many of my colleagues in Ticket Offices.
The issue is not always about money.

Unfortunately train companies tend to think customer service is all about running trains on time. Its not. Sorry to hear of your plight.
