Anyone else remember this chain of roadside eateries that used to rival Little Chef?

Vaguely remember them but have clearer memories of Pogs. Do you remember them?

Consistently produced soggy toast but otherwise I was never less than disappointed.

Both Happy Eater and Little Chef were owned by Trusthouse Forte in the 80s and 90s until Granada bought THF and split it all up and sold off most of it for a huge profit

Didn’t a famous Chef take them over to make them up market? Removed the chains from the knives and forks that were attached to the table?
