Next month's local elections

Post by ComeOnYouOs »

Will events going on in Downing Street, and national government, influence voters, or will local issues be the thing voters vote on?
I can see people sending a message to Johnson next month, that they don't like the lying cheating fat scumbag, and what he's doing.
Whether it will have any influence on whether the Tories decide to finally ditch Johnson, we shall see

In my area it will be tight, the residents association have only been kept out of power until now because the Tories have been able to buy a few of their councillors.

Many people arent able to differentiate between local and national politics i find.

Easy decision for me

As bad as the national government is my local Tory council are doing a fine job.

Got a number of projects up and running and froze tax

Let's not let the Government colour good local work

Everyone should vote on local issues in local elections

The people who think they are better off, will turn out to vote Tory to make sure that the Proles don't get any of their money. The very poor will not go out ( they never do ). Starmer is very uninspiring & relying on Boris to do his work for him. I am not expecting a disaster for the Tories. The General Public can be pretty ignorant. I know people so bored by Politics, that they wouldn't even turn out to vote, even if the Tories announced they would be sent to gas chambers.

Easy? Absolutely essential, more like. God help us if we get even more wokey Labour councils.

Last time that happened we ended up with piles of uncollected rubbish, the dead left unburied, and rats eating babies. Everyone should vote in these local elections to stop the loony left at all costs.

Tories have the right idea. Outsource the immigrants to Rwanda. Over and out.

And that is why this fat slob got to be voted as PM because at the last General Election
a very big majority of the Labour vote could not or would not vote for Herr Corbyn.
Me included, to my eternal shame.

I don't know what will happen next month in Harlow. There was a strong leave vote and a convincing tory win at the GE in 2019 (held seat). The tories took the council last May and reduced our council tax this year. On a national level I think the tories have really screwed us. Locally I struggle to find what Labour is about. I even joined the party (have since left so I can vote for whom I want) and attended a few meetings. The trouble is, the tories talk so much bullshit-making out Harlow council have given me a £205 tax rebate when in fact the govt will be giving £150 of it because of their crap energy management-that I don't know what is true and what isn't. Our promised new hospital has gone back at least a few years and won't even be in the town. If people still equate Corbyn with Labour the tories will do ok. If people equate the local tories with the lying and incompetent govt then labour will do ok, and perhaps the otehrs

The Tories can't help world events like covid and the Russia / Ukraine war . These problems are having a knock on effect in the cost of living . Saying that I fully expect them to still pay the price at the ballot box . Of course Boris continually shooting himself in the foot isn't going to help the government either .

Going with the local Residents Association and Mrs NES will vote blindly again to try and keep the red flag flying. She never wavers.
