Honestly I just think that there’s a big blind spot that the protestors have, where on virtually every other issue they recognise that the UK is not the centre of the world, and is a relatively insignificant little island, but when it comes to climate change, there’s no real sense of quite how insignificant we are next to the emissions of China and the U.S.
People gluing themselves to microphones seem to be more interested in being the lead character of their own internal film, more than actually changing hearts and minds, which seems counter productive to me.

I don’t doubt that the climate situation is more urgent than it was a decade ago, but the heightened language has been there for at least 30-35 years, and if you present everything as a disaster, eventually people will treat that language as just being the terms in which the movement talks, and nothing will feel urgent even when it is

You can see technological progress being made, but it would be nice to have a government that actually does something like funding insulation or green energy incentives.

It is silly for these people to always be demanding people, government and industry to immediately change everything they do, its unrealistic.

The only likelihood of this government doing anything will be when their pals have started up Green energy companies. At that point grants will miraculously become available for Joe Public to invest in these companies. Cynical - me? Well yes, but given the evidence of their allocation of money-making contracts to their pals throughout the Pandemic, can you blame me.
