Otis Khan
Otis isnt a good player is he.
Although he's slightly better in an attacking midfield role, he still is very one footed,& he has no pace.
Its criminal to play him at right back, where he really is rank
Yet despite this, he is generally regarded as the best of the January signings
The mind truly boggles

Re: Otis Khan
That’s because he clearly is the best of our January signings . He’s the only one capable. The rest are either surplus League Two players or inexperienced youngsters. That’s nowhere near good enough if the club is serious about promotion.

Re: Otis Khan
He was truly awful last night. No fullback that’s for sure. The best jan signing but it’s very thin gruel and like asking if Brussels are better than broccoli.

Re: Otis Khan
There's a reasonable league one and a good to very good league 2 player in there somewhere but certainly not at right back or right wing back. I'd like to see him in the middle in an advanced role, he doesn't need pace in there and he has got quick feet and can see and pick a pass - in a similar role against Harrogate I thought he had his best game. It seems an Orient affliction that we can't find the best roles for players and they go on to play well for other teams.

Re: Otis Khan
Agreed with this. He doesn’t stop crosses coming in, he can’t defend, he’s not a right back or a wing back. Nor is he quick enough to be a winger.WhetstoneO wrote: ↑Wed Mar 30, 2022 10:40 am There's a reasonable league one and a good to very good league 2 player in there somewhere but certainly not at right back or right wing back. But he did play well in that forward CM role the other week so worth persevering with.
But yes, it’s telling that he’s the only one of the six January signings anywhere near acceptable.

Re: Otis Khan
The bloke isn’t a RB. He’s alright in attacking midfield. The reason he looks awful is because he is being played criminally out of position.

Previous Criminal Convictions, Spent or Unspent?
A: Yes , played Right Back out of position for a football team.

I still can't get over they signed him as a RB but he had never played there and can't defend that well, I think he looks a tidy footballer, good squad option

Re: Otis Khan
Against Barrow I thought our central midfield looked better with Khan and Pratley together rather than with Kyprianou and Coleman.

I agree. I quite like him. A bit different to what we’ve got and tries things. Gives the ball away now and then but I think we have a good player if we can find the right role for him.RedDwarf 1881 wrote: ↑Fri Apr 01, 2022 7:53 am Against Barrow I thought our central midfield looked better with Khan and Pratley together rather than with Kyprianou and Coleman.

Did they really sign him as a RB? I thought that was that Moss?essexfootball wrote: ↑Fri Apr 01, 2022 7:44 am I still can't get over they signed him as a RB but he had never played there and can't defend that well, I think he looks a tidy footballer, good squad option
I assumed Khan was brought in for the CAM role to replace the outgoing Kemp and ever injured Smyth?

Re: Otis Khan
I think you're correct about why we signed Khan. Incidentally where's Moss because he seems to have completely disappeared off the radar. Same could be said for Brown. Another central midfielder who looks exactly like Kyprianou but isn't as good as Kyprianou or even Coleman . God, this club really did waste some money during January.Gary the Plumber wrote: ↑Fri Apr 01, 2022 9:17 amDid they really sign him as a RB? Re: Otis Khan
If l were Walsall's Wilkinson, l'd swap to their left wing against us. Much easier than facing Ogie/Wood.

Didn't even notice him, hardly touched the ball. But he's only a kid - same age as Hector, I believe - so not going to write him off just yet.

Re: Otis Khan
Khan is a useful squad option to have. Can play in multiple positions across midfield and attack, is technically decent and gets around the pitch. Doubt he's going to be a starter for us but the sort of depth you need.

Re: Otis Khan
If we want to go for promotion next season we're going to need one or two better central midfielders. Somebody in that area will have to be written off. . We've carried enough passengers this season without taking baggage into next season as well. Brown, along with Nouble were stupid sightings.Gary the Plumber wrote: ↑Fri Apr 01, 2022 2:01 pmDidn't even notice him, hardly touched the ball. Re: Otis Khan
I think Khan’s a good option but he’s quite clearly a 10, not a right back. We became massively unstuck under Jackett by his insistence on square pegs in round holes and playing players out of position, so I see little benefit in persevering.
One things for certain, Moss must be appalling or way out of his depth in training to not get near a side that has no fit natural right backs. Possibly made even stranger that I didn’t think he was that bad on his debut?

Re: Otis Khan
I liked Khan when I saw him in his first match for us and my opinion hasn't changed. But IMO he is not being played in the right place, he's a midfield attacking guy, not a defender.

Re: Otis Khan
I didn’t think he was that bad on his debut either. He had a shaky start and then found his way. I wouldn’t put him in front of Thompson though. I am not sure he gives us anything other players don’t. It was a bad move for him and us.Jman wrote: ↑Sat Apr 02, 2022 8:12 am I think Khan’s a good option but he’s quite clearly a 10, not a right back.
