Do Council want us in borough
Was wondering with redevelopment of hare and hounds and changing of restrictions around ground,do Waltham Forest Council actually want a football team in the Borough?
I think Walthamstow are top of Essex senior, but how far could they go without any support from the council.
Orient must surely be a bonus to the Leyton economy and fans must spend in the area around the ground.
Why seem hellbent on making it hard for them to attend matches.

The planners would much likely prefer the kind of development of the SCORE centre site instead of our ground, didn't even feel that long ago that centre itself was new and shiny

The council have residents to consider. The road on the north side of the ground is just mental, cars parked along both sides. There is not much excuse to travel by car. If you do, don't expect to park for free at the expense of residents.

Exactly. It’s hardly like Brisbane Road is one of these out of town modern grounds. There are plenty of public transport options.Long slender neck wrote: ↑Sat Mar 19, 2022 7:58 pm The council have residents to consider. Re: Do Council want us in borough
How much of a benefit to the local economy are fans? And should the council care?
Its a few thousand extra people visiting around once a fortnight. Lets assume an average spend of £5 per fan in the local economy. £5 x 5000 x 25 = £625000. Its not a huge amount. Should the council care?

We spend around £50-60 per home game in the Lion and Key, and on occasions like the recent Carlisle game it was packed out with their fans and quite a few of ours..
This is a business that would definitely lose out in my opinion.

Why would you assume £5 as the average? If we assume that most adults will have some amount of food and an alcoholic drink or two during their day, than that’s more like £15 for those who do that, so you’d need a lot of people spending a lot less than a fiver to get the average down. The club is a 5 minute walk from a tube station that is only 1 stop away from Stratford and a few more from Liverpool Street. Vast majority of people should be able to get to the ground without a car.

Some wont spend anything, some arent adults. Its just a guess.CEB wrote: ↑Sun Mar 20, 2022 10:57 amWhy would you assume £5 as the average? Re: Do Council want us in borough
Right - but because you’ve extrapolated from your guess a figure of £625,000, using that as the thrust of the question “should the council care?”, it’s entirely possible that the average could in fact just as easily be five or ten times that, no?

Re: Do Council want us in borough
Don't the council own the freehold on the ground or something like that?
If they weren't keen they could bin us off

Replacing the ground with flats would probably provide greater benefit to the local economy and council.

Re: Do Council want us in borough
WF Council are very keen on having a club & don't want us going anywhere. Would many people (outside of E London/Essex) know of Leyton if there was no football club?
