"Experts have warned" that the numbers on the govt site are becoming increasingly unreliable and some also believe daily coronavirus statistics should be phased out in the coming months, amid fears people are becoming "addicted" to the figures.
Daily statistics should have been phased out months ago. They have simply prolonged the unnecessary fear in people. And if they are to keep them they should put them alongside deaths by all causes for balance.

Exactly and as the USA have done they've stopped issuing the figures cos they know the game is up.

Latest statistics from NHS England showed that in the East Midlands, just 533 (29 per cent) of the 1,817 people included in coronavirus hospital data were being treated primarily for the virus.

This week, it also emerged that the number of daily reported deaths is starting to diverge significantly from registered Covid deaths recorded by the Office for National Statistics.

Deaths are reported as Covid on the dashboard if they occur within 28 days of a positive test. But so many people are now being diagnosed with omicron that a large proportion of natural deaths are now also ending up in the figures.

So Bojo will be tearing up all restrictions early, but are the falling numbers real? Anecdotally I am hearing about a lot of people with infections at the moment.

They've made it harder to get a pcr test and i would think many people wouldn't bother to register a positive lft with the nhs, so you get lower numbers.

He’s got to get his numbers down to get the backbench support and as you say, quoting numbers when you don’t have to get a pcr test and a lot of people don’t log lft, it’s just to give him the narrative he needs.

2 of my mates have got it from a night out Saturday and I’m not feeling too clever so will probably test positive tomorrow.

He would counter that with lower hospital and death numbers. And a lot of those in hospital with covid are not there because of it.

I’m hearing of more positive cases currently than any other time - kids schools are rife with it - but I don’t know of anyone who has been really ill at all.

What's the argument for ending self isolation for positive cases?

They won’t have to deal with sickness. People will still be able to go in to work with the covids.

Everyone should join a union and demand better terms and conditions for what is likely to be an increase in sickness absence.

Actually, just join a union and demand better everything.

Because , as you have been told for weeks now , it’s no worse than a cold. Keep up with the science.

As we've known since the beginning of the pandemic ,
A cold affects the upper lung & covid affects the
Lower lung which is far more dangerous to everyone .

Another new variant reported in the last day or 2 .

The weirdest thing about this thread is that it didn’t start until the end of February 2020. What sort of boarding was happening in January and February that year where there wasn’t even a thread about this?

By January 2021 there had been over a 1000 mutations, therefore a possible thousand different variants. New variants are happening all the time. Whatever happened to those between Delta and Omicron, which the press did not report but were serious enough to be acknowledged?

I got it for the first time this week too.

Day 6 of isolation, no symptoms since Friday but still positive on LFTs. Does that mean I'm still infectious or that it's just lingering in the background?

In general with any illness you are generally only infectious the first couple of days when you have symptoms. So probably just dead virus that your body is clearing out, not infectious.

Nice one, shame the advice says negative test on two consecutive days before freedom 😒
