Re: Mason Greenwood
Footballers – even Premier League ones are not immune from prosecution. Although Greenwood hasn’t been charged yet, who remembers Elliot Omozusi? He was player of the year at Leyton Orient in 2010. A year later he's in the dock and sentenced to two and a half years for attempting to take revenge on the key witness in a murder trial. I remember being really shocked at the time.

Re: Mason Greenwood
The difference is, Greenwood hasn't been found guilty of anything yet, in fact he hasn't even been charged as yet, so a ridiculous comparison at the moment.Jeanluc wrote: ↑Tue Feb 01, 2022 6:33 pm Footballers – even Premier League ones are not immune from prosecution. I would be surprised if Greenwood wasn't charged at some point, but as of now he's an innocent man according to the laws of the UK.

Re: Mason Greenwood
Probably not a good sign though that, having had him for a day and a half, the police are now adding extra charges.

Ive just read the article from a Guardian story .
Yet I remember watching Omozusi's full debut in a game & people around me
Were mentioning his connection to the 2010 murder trial .

Re: Mason Greenwood
The audio is shocking, if the police ascertain that it is his voice on it. He will be going down for a good few years hopefully. .

Re: Mason Greenwood
Fair enough but it was pretty much common knowledge when he signed . Fulham didnt want it hanging over them as a PL Club so offloaded him .

Re: Mason Greenwood
Anyone heard any updates about this young man?
He was released on police bail after his initial arrest. I believe he was released on 2nd February. The maximum period of police bail initially is 28 days. This would have taken us to 2nd March.
The bail period can be further extended to a maximum of 3 months without application to a court. ( on authority of an officer of at least Superintendent rank)
I've heard nothing in media about his case ( Have I missed an announcement?), so I am guessing his bail was extended.
If he had been released No further action, I am sure player and his advisers would have been making announcements in media
If he had been charged, I am sure police would have announced a court date
So, I am guessing investigation is still proceeding or the police are awaiting charging advice from the CPS

i am sorry for daring to ask if anyone had heard an update on what was a major story a month ago.
I think its fair to say the pointless post is your response
Re: Mason Greenwood
Nobody would hear any updates until there’s an update you would have also heard… a quick Google would enable you to be up to speed

Re: Mason Greenwood
He could only have been bailed until 2nd March initially , so there must be an update as something must have happened on or before that date, even if it was just to extend his bail

Re: Mason Greenwood
Charges dropped but anyone who heard the phone recordings knows he's a wrongun. His statement showed no expression of thanks towards Man U. Will the club now get rid of him (by selling him ofc)?
Lets wait and see....

Only because a witness pulled out, not like he's been cleared of any/all charges.

Re: Mason Greenwood
He’s back with the girl. New evidence came to light along with witnesses dropping out. Very unsavoury, the whole thing and I don’t feel comfortable him playing for United again but convicted murderers are able to play football in this country so I can’t see why he won’t play again.
