My only concern with Wellens as head coach
Do we have the type of players to straight away implement his style of football. It might well still be quite messy until he starts getting the players he wants and needs. To go from jacket ball to Wellens high octane high press might take a while to translate into results. Im expecting a rocky road until the summer at least.

We adopted the high press early on before Smith was fit. Drinnan, Smyth, Archibald, Ruel and even Nouble can do that as the front 3.
Struggling in midfield, though.

I couldn't care less if they appointed Ritchie Valens as long as we stay up

Yep agreed - hopefully we’ll get safety double quick and we can consign this season to the bin and look forward to August.

Good luck to him because he doesn’t have much to work with

Re: My only concern with Wellens as head coach
My concern is that if he doesn't consider he has good technical footballers, which he says is key, it immediately puts him at odds with the transfer committee.
After all, wasn't the policy to only recruit players who in their opinion could thrive in League one?

That policy well and truly went out the window in January that's for sure. Provided he can keep us out of trouble until end of the season the recruitment over summer will be even more critical than last.RBMarshall wrote: ↑Wed Mar 09, 2022 3:12 pm My concern is that if he doesn't consider he has good technical footballers, which he says is key, it immediately puts him at odds with the transfer committee.

I think the players are there, but they need a motivating and we need some of those long-term injured back sharpish.
In the meantime good luck Richie

A long injury list is sometimes a sign that all is not well within the club...

Re: My only concern with Wellens as head coach
I sincerely hope that’s the end of our transfer committee nonsense because it’s already done enough damage. All new signings must be solely down to Richie’s choice . Our Wembley play off side in 2014 wasn’t built by any useless transfer committee.gshaw wrote: ↑Wed Mar 09, 2022 4:15 pmThat policy well and truly went out the window in January that's for sure. If only Barry and Mooch Potter could return and save us in our hour of need.RedDwarf 1881 wrote: ↑Thu Mar 10, 2022 2:56 pmI sincerely hope that’s the end of our transfer committee nonsense because it’s already done enough damage.
