Relegation

Post by Chocolate_brownie »

A genuine possibility now. Originally thrown around as a bit of hyperbole in response to a patch of bad form. Clear now that this is much more serious than a bit of bad form. We can’t score a goal let alone win a game.

Really worrying.

Going into March we have scored one goal this year. That's embarrassing.

The Oldham game being called off and rearranged is a massive help to them too given where we are now.

Just a thought but wouldn’t have been better to have kept Jackett and Gallen and invested the 100k + severance pay into two decent players. Jackett may have kept us up and we could have let him go at the season end.
What right minded manager will come to us knowing we are almost certainly NL bound

I guess problem is there's very little out there with window shut to spend on and when the window was open we still had a realistic chance of the play-offs. Sacking KJ was never on the horizon until the new signings came in and have made us worse if anything.

New manager needs to be in the building ASAP
Hopefully Fergie will accept and be in the stands for Tue and in the dugout for next Sat!

Squad needs a lift and we can hopefully get a New manager bounce and score and pick up a draw or a win, just need to stop the run of defeats and score again.
If we lose our next home game it will be a club record 6 home defeats on the bounce.

Our new manager really has got a mountain to climb with our bad squad. It’s Kenny’s team and it’s sh*t

The dilemma is the mention of decent players
The recruitment team ( no responsibility with me guvnor I sit on a committee ) who have recruited Fletcher, Davis, Embleton , Embleton again, Reilly, Smyth, the aggressive six signings in the January window and Jacket would appear to have no idea how to interview, how to recruit managers or scout decent players
The marketing, spin and spiel is wearing vey thin, getting all a bit embarrassing

It’s my best guess. Half a seasons wages each. It must be at least that. Feel free to have your own guess

Very good point about “spin”. I’m seriously starting to think that Travis is taking us all for mugs. His interviews and soundbites are meaningless. This club is hurtling towards the conference and things will get very very nasty if the unthinkable happens. A relegation will eradicate any positivity gained from getting us back in to the football league in the first place. It will also trash the legacy of Justin Edinburgh. They may as well tear his name down from the main stand because there is no way in hell the great man would want his name on a conference stadium after the amount of work he put into getting the very same club out of that ghastly division.

Next week is absolutely huge for the club, and I’m not just talking about on the pitch. If Matt Harrold is standing in that dugout as interim manager next Saturday then that’s it. I’ve lost all faith in these owners.

Fair enough, but we'd still have needed to compensate him at the end of the season if we wanted to get rid.

The only slight chink of light is that Scunthorpe are gone so there's only one place to avoid . The darker is that we look like the one!!

Didn’t he only have a rolling one year contract ? But aside from that , I still think as a businessman, surely the money waisted on the sacking compensation, would have been better invested in players

Jacket might have kept us up . 100 k would be useless if you cannot sign players now until the end of season.

The players brought in during January are worse than the players they were replacing with the exception of Khan who does look like a decent player.

No way Jackett was keeping us up. Our players looked like they were playing with fear. The effort shown today by the players was much better under Matt.

How many compensation packages is Ling still paying off at the moment? Is it just Jackett, Gallen, Jobi and Embleton?

The transfer window for purchases closed on 31 January, so unless Orient have a time machine , that is not an option now this season

We can sign free agents. That said, not sure whether there are any worthwhile free agents out there.
