Re: Prince Andrew
This case was always going to end with a payment to the alleged victim.

The outcome seemed inevitable; apparently some 99% of US civil cases are settled out of court.

Re: Prince Andrew
Andrew would have pulled off the great escape if he held his nerve and called Giuffre's bluff.

Re: Prince Andrew
The fact that he (and/or Mummy) agreed a mega amount for compensation would suggest that 'holding his nerve' was not really going to win the argument in court. Quite frankly, his 'evidence' to support his denial was quite shameful and embarrassing IMO (he doesn't sweat, the picture was photoshopped, he was in Pizza Express with his children at the alleged time, etc). I suspect he had hoped that his royal bluster and power would
frighten her into retreat?
Those 'defences' were all about seeking to rubbish and devalue her person and her testimony, mainly by asserting his inborn superiority as in 'being a royal'.

It appears that the deal includes a gagging order stopping her from talking about the abuse and the case until later in the year - after the Queen's Jubilee celebrations.Anthem of Hope wrote: ↑Thu Feb 17, 2022 2:13 amMaybe “undisclosed” means similar to a football transfer that classified as undisclosed
Yep the lady in question has to complete:
- X amount of appearances on tv without revealing what occurred.
- if see gets international appearance it affects the sum paid too
- if she ever gets into any revelation that yields a revenue then she has to reimburse Andy and there is a set ratio
Lucky Andy!

Some credit must go to to the "Me, too" movement, without which this scenario would not have played out in this way.

Re: Prince Andrew
It seems Andrew thinks that his payment for these 'crimes' , means he can become a full time royal one again, but I would think that's wishful thinking on his part.
I think he should find meaningful employment, for the next few years, until he is of retirement age.
Something like green keeper at one of his golf courses. Mowing the grass, weeding, watering the greens, will do him the world of good.
At 66, he can retire on a state pension of around £170 per week, and live a frugal life like other ordinary people of that age. I do realize he hasn't contributed any NI contributions during the years, so his state pension will be in jeopardy.
On a more serious note, why do the public allow this, why haven't the royal family been consigned to the dustbin of history by now?

By the time he retires I think the state pension age might be 67 ?ComeOnYouOs wrote: ↑Thu Feb 17, 2022 11:40 am It seems Andrew thinks that his payment for these 'crimes' , means he can become a full time royal one again, but I would think that's wishful thinking on his part.

Prince Andrew: Where does he get his money from?
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-60401663
''When he was a "working royal," carrying out duties on behalf of the Royal Family, it was suggested that Prince Andrew received about £250,000 per year, including the cost of running an office. But that would have ended when he stepped down from official royal duties in 2019, in the wake of his Newsnight interview. It hasn't been confirmed whether that was replaced by the Queen paying him from her private income.
Prince Andrew also receives an armed forces pension, thought to be about £20,000 a year''

Re: Prince Andrew
That's good in theory but we have seen that in reality they are just empty words: after Johnson dismissed all the Tory MPs who would not act as his dummies, he had no majority in parliament but he still made the Queen perform for his opening of parliament and she duly obliged.Orient_Man_And_Boy wrote: ↑Thu Feb 17, 2022 12:37 pmTo hold the Consitutional Reserved Powers in case the PM gets too big for his/her/their/its boots.ComeOnYouOs wrote: ↑Thu Feb 17, 2022 11:40 am On a more serious note, why do the public allow this, why haven't the royal family been consigned to the dustbin of history by now?
It remains to be seen if she has anything to say when the police investigation into No10 parties are concluded.
Re: Prince Andrew
Boris is now saying "I did no wrong" so what has he apologised for?
He has claimed that the parties were all about work...So why was his wife photographed with him?
He has dug a hole and it is getting deeper by the day

Re: Prince Andrew
I wonder whether he is expecting to get through this with his customary bullishness and bluster.
It has always worked for him up to now.
Can't be bothered to look for the link now where one of his acolytes had warned the Met that 'they had better be very sure'. ! Quite a chilling threat to the police, IMO.
... We know that the Met police were guarding No.10 and acted like the 3 proverbial monkeys (see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil)
They pulled the plug on Sue Gray's analysis and report when all accounts suggested that she had found and recorded evidence of law breaking. Their police investigation is now about (maybe ?) a few token fines with no obligation to name & shame. In light of this: how likely is it for them to show the courage necessary to fully name Johnson with evidence and determination to make him accountable for his actions?
The Queen didn't challenge him when he prorogued parliament ....
