Mixed Tape Recordings

Post by Lucky7 »

I love having a rumble in my old dads loft lots of vinyl cassettes football stuff etc etc
Anyway I’ve come across some of the tapes he’s made himself mainly off Radio 1
His 2 main ones are the John Peel Show and the Friday Night Rock show I don’t know the presenter

I’m actually surprised that the quality is quite good as well

My dad being my dad has wrote down every date song and artiste

I’m currently listening to a session by The Fall
Never heard them before sounds ok

I think because the tape is magnetic-based, it doesn't seem to deteriorate over time. I dug out some tapes a couple of years ago that were 35 years old, and they all seemed to play fine.
Different story if they get stuck in the player of course, which effectively seems to be the end..

My 16yo Zafira has a cassette player and I have loads of old cassettes, can't be bothered playing them mind. Loved John Peel - first time I heard Pretty Vacant was on his show. Also remember the day Sandy Denny died him not speaking at the start and just playing 'Who Knows Where Time Goes'. I also had a soft spot for Alan Freeman's Saturday show in the early 70's.
