Doing backflips after just returning from injury is pretty avoidable though as happened earlier in the seasonAnthem of Hope wrote: ↑Fri Feb 11, 2022 12:04 pmYea injuries prior to the current punctured lung which has absolutely nothing to do with his medical previous injuries - and could of happened to anyoneBiggsyMalone wrote: ↑Fri Feb 11, 2022 11:14 am ‘Paul Smyth our best player’ ‘only played 3 games’

Sounded like the player we went in for and moved to Holland was Daniel Crowley. Wouldn't have been a bad signing.

Why not? He is the closest thing to a professional broadcaster we have.

The reasoning is we haven't won for 2 months & things need to change.
I've always been fully supportive of managers to give them a chance but the decisions made since December have me seriously questioning him.

Re: LODown Podcast with Nigel Travis
Just had a play through this and a line from 12 mins in that struck me
"We ask Kenny what he wants then we identify the players"
So is KJ choosing these players directly or is he picking from a list of the DoF / recruitment consultant like the Embleton days?

Re: LODown Podcast with Nigel Travis
Yeah that’s what struck me too.
I don’t necessarily disagree with that approach but you’d hope Kenny gets sign off at the other end when the player is identified.
Travis was pretty clear in saying that accountability for the players, and failure of players sat with Kenny, unsurprisingly

Is this true? f*cking hell.
No wonder he had a moan about the group looking like an under 23 squad.

Re: LODown Podcast with Nigel Travis
He says "We go through a process. We basically identify what Kenny wants. He proposes to the transfer committee and we sign it off. "
But then he says sometime which could be interpreted differently...
"We ask Kenny what he wants, we then identify the players, we then go through the process of negotiating..."
Finally...
"We give Kenny the players he wants. The accountability for putting the players in the team is his. So I would say that it comes down to Kenny. Honestly, we all take responsibility"
Would be good for someone to ask the question of Nigel...
Does Kenny identify the actual players he wants or does he identify the areas/type of players he wants and someone else goes and find players that match that criteria...because the two are very different processes.

Re: LODown Podcast with Nigel Travis
Bang on the money Wumble and also along the same lines, what happens when the commute disagrees on which player they want? Does manager gave a veto / final say or is it a decision made by majority?

Re: LODown Podcast with Nigel Travis
Well, put it this way....do you think it was Ling or Jackett who called up Millwall and asked for Mitchell and Moss (and possibly others) on loan? I imagine the identifying is essentially admin in finding out who is available, how they compare to what we have or need, statistical analysis, scouting reports and anything around expected transfer fees/wages so decisions are not taken in isolation. Basically leaving Jackett to the footballing side and feeding into.and rubber stamping transfer decisions.Apple Wumble wrote: ↑Sun Feb 13, 2022 11:55 am He says "We go through a process. Just can't see a case where Jackett doesnt want someone but everyone else does so they purposely go against what Jackett says.

I agree completely and assume that’s the case. Either way, I don’t think it matters. Our signings in the summer and in the winter window have been more or less useless, whoever made them.

It’s not about the committee deliberately bringing in players Jackett doesn’t want here, it’s more nuanced than that. There could be people Kenny has said he wants to get in but some bloke with the stats has said they don’t fit what we need. It could be that Kenny has said he needs a forward thinking full back to cover James’ injury, but because the budget has been spunked earlier in the year he’s been given a couple of u23 options, of which Moss was the best. Kenny might not have fancied him, but had no choice given what else was offered to him.
The club talk about transparency and accountability but it falls down with regards to the Transfer Committee

Re: LODown Podcast with Nigel Travis
How is wanting players, not being able to afford them in some cases and having to make do with what fits in our budget different from most other clubs at our level? Having board members on the committee would actually be helpful in seeing if additional funds were available if there is a potentially good player we could go for, or in cases if we want to pay a fee for a player like we did with Coleman.Ronnie Hotdogs wrote: ↑Sun Feb 13, 2022 1:37 pmI believe Ling does all that sort of thing so assume it was him who didthe asking. Just listened to the podcast, and to quote Travis verbatim:
"We basically identify what Kenny wants, he proposes to the transfer committee and we sign it off"
"I read all the stuff where people say we sign players for Kenny - that is not true"

It's all gone quiet after that bombshell. Pretty sure people will whip things up again with the same fallacies after our next loss though.
