LOFT has had many a guest speaker from the club at AGMs over the years, to try and make them less terribly dull (nicely put, timothy ) - off the top of my head, Barry Hearn (several times), Martin Ling (several times as manager, including jointly with Dean Smith, and last year as DoF), Russell Slade, Geraint Williams, Matt Porter, Danny Macklin, Plus ex-club like Frank Clark, John Sitton, Gary Alexander and John Mackie. Possibly one or two others in the distant past I've forgotten.Bottomley’s Ghost wrote: ↑Tue Jul 02, 2019 12:55 am You’ll have to jog my memory on that one. No recollection of any of the SC events being linked to an AGM, and the only LOFT panels/AGMS I’ve been to were in the Italian’s era, so people like Matt Porter were not involved at the club at the time they appeared. Happy to be corrected though.

Re: An Evening With !!!
Done deal then, expect Macklin to be on the case.
Quite like how the club are chasing the little revenues as well, although some might be cutting too close to the bone. I wonder if this is tied with Teague's dumb-sounding series of questions on Twitter (dumb because I think he already knows the answers having been here 2 years, if not why start asking them now).
Even assuming that every person sinks a couple of pints I can't see more than 50 people paying to attend. After costs the contribution isn't gonna be much, but every penny counts.
One thing I think the club have missed a trick on is an official eBay account. You could shift an old pair of pants on there if it was signed by a player.
Match worn stuff gets a big premium, and there could be loads of old stuff hanging around in the cupboards.

Unlimited opportunities to make a score by selling the players time.

Question is Bigron, once he knows where you live, will your life ever be the same again?

Its simple. If people turn up and they make money, i.e. people are willing to pay for this then its worked. If most people agree that its a crude attempt at a money grab and stay away, there won't be another one.

Agree with u there. I don’t think you’ll get mate than 10-12 questions in that time. Buts it’s a PR and income generating event as much as anything so good luck to it

Re: An Evening With !!!
I am interested in the choice: why lasanga? I'm guessing this is the cost.
Because of the ticket event we would know numbers. For £5-6 a head you could get a local Indian restaurant to cater the event which also increases beer sales.
Position it as 'Leyton Orient supper club' with informal Q&A attached and I think people would feel less ripped off.
What differentiates us from the bigger clubs is the closeness between fans and staff, I would think the better way to go about this is to lean on sponsors to make this happen rather than charging fans.

Re: An Evening With !!!
Its the worst example of exploiting our fanbase I can think of - and that includes all of the £earn era.
After the first one, it will be a very sparsely attended event.

Once you paid for staff, provided food, I doubt theres a profit in it or very little thinking about it.

Why doesn't someone ask DM what the difference between this and the free events the supporters club used to put on is other than you get a bit of grub thrown in.

Re: An Evening With !!!
This type of thing was exactly what i meant in my old thread when i said i wasnt happy with certain aspects of how the club was being run, which incidentally, i got slagged off big time by a few on here.
Since then, until now I havent made any more such comments, but now a few more are basically saying what i was saying 6 /7 months ago.
I can understand the club wanting to make as much money as they can to mitigate the inevitable losses, but it seemed then, as it still does, they are using the loyalty of the fans to excess....we are like whores who can be milked whenever the club wants. ( sorry about the mixed metaphors)
There is a balance, and i think the club needs to realise that
