This Wikipedia article is good, it even includes wars they did on themselves and wars that weren't wars at all.Ronnie Hotdogs wrote: ↑Fri Feb 04, 2022 6:09 pm
The info is all out there. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_t ... on_in_wars
They’ve not been at war for something like 17 out of their 250 year history.
They bloody love doing a war.

The Iraq war distorted people's views of foreign policy and RT stepped in where they saw the opportunity to play the imperialist cardDunners wrote: ↑Fri Feb 04, 2022 6:49 pm I fully understand post-Iraq cynicism. It appears to be yet another blind side that afflicts the crank-left.
I don't hold out much hope for winning them back though with events billed like this with said lead speaker

Cool. What's the bad thing that we (or the US, NATO and or any other Western alliance) have done, specifically, in this particular sh*t show?Ronnie Hotdogs wrote: ↑Fri Feb 04, 2022 9:40 pmWhoa! Stationing missiles closer and closer to the Russian boarder after the West/NATO promised Russia it wouldn’t do after the collapse of the old Soviet Union. Therefore Russia has some justification in saying we’re threatening their security. If I can remember rightly the Americans weren’t too happy when the Soviet Union positioned missiles in CubaDunners wrote: ↑Fri Feb 04, 2022 10:23 pmCool. Re: Russia / Ukraine Watch
No disrespect, but that's not quite right. This whole NATO expansion strawman is dealt with in the Ben Wallace article I've linked to earlier in this thread. When people say what you have, they are repeating a deliberate spin being fed by the Kremlin. You may want to consider your news sources and reflect on that.RedDwarf 1881 wrote: ↑Sat Feb 05, 2022 1:14 amStationing missiles closer and closer to the Russian boarder after the West/NATO promised Russia it wouldn’t do after the collapse of the old Soviet Union. As for this particular sh*tshow, there was very little public or political appetite in Ukraine for a closer alliance with the West until Russia attacked them in 2014. Since then, the damage and loss of 14,000 lives has understandably made the Ukrainians rethink.
Either we offer some assistance to discourage any further invasion, and help Ukraine defend itself should that still happen, or we shut our mouths and look the other way.
So far we're offering assistance. And I'm asking those who suggest we're somehow in the wrong here to explain themselves or, if they feel they can't, at least have the humility to reflect on things a bit more carefully.

I’ve not read a couple of online articles on the subject so wouldn’t dream of passing myself off as some sort of expert.

If countries join NATO freely, as in its their own choice, then how is that a bad or threatening thing?

Oh dear. Emergency NATO meeting called tonight. US officials briefing that Putin has ordered invasion. All EU staff currently going through emergency evacuation.
If this is it, it is going to be a catastrophe.
