If it helps dampen asset price inflation, then it does have some relevance. Maintaining a 0.1% rate would also have negative consequences anyway, so the BoE would have weighted all of this up when making their decision. There are no simple or easy choices right now.

Used in both diesel and fertiliser. Predominantly produced in China who are stopping exporting it due to the food crisis that is happening there. If you're wondering why this is happening it's because of their current policies to stop importing from anyone who questions the way they go about doing things. The world needs to decouple its reliance on China as it can no longer be trusted as a trading partner.

I did spend too much over Christmas. But there are many reasons why inflation is rising , many external and out of our control. There are enough gaffs you can lay at Boris’s door but this isn’t one of them.

His inability to deal with real world problems of the public is though . dont be suprised to see a famous old buisness like Pilkington Glass to be gone , not due to poor management, but to a government who are incapable .

You obviously did!
Brexit was always going to cost the country and sadly the buffoon convinced a lot of people that we would benefit!

I voted to remain. And I think it’s early days to suggest we will or wont benefit. Let’s see

BoE raises rates to 0.5%, and still predicts that inflation will peak above 7%.

The MPC voted 5-4 in favour of raising interest rates from 0.25% to 0.5%. But those four dissenting members wanted a hike to 0.75%.

Something's got them spooked. Maybe those four are reflecting that, so far, the BoE predictions have not exactly been met:

Still seems daft to tackle a cost of living squeeze by raising mortgage costs. It won’t decrease energy costs and it’s not going to reverse the inflationary effects of Brexit ie lack of plentiful cheap labour.
