Re: Tory Watch
It's a total sh*t show but, yeah, I reckon the PM survives this, and that Cummings has now shot his bolt. Unless there are photos yet to be leaked, of course.

I watched about 3 mins of PMQs the other day and he said that he wouldn't be resigning. Suspect he knows he can get through this.

He's gone back to aggressive bluster as his act of contrition was even less believable than all the flagrant lying.
If the Tories tank in the may local elections, he's gone. But never underestimate the British public's ability to hold its nose and vote conservative, no matter how badly they f*ck up.

Re: Tory Watch
Wondering about the significance of the police request for Sue to remove references to the matters the police are 'investigating'.
So she is not going to give detail and facts. Being somewhat suspicious (and remembering how reluctant the police were to investigate) I wouldn't be surprised if the police then announce "Not sufficient evidence - matter closed". Consequence: Johnson will be confirmed in his belief of being the king of the world and untouchable.

Re: Tory Watch
I didnt believe in a million years, Johnson could survive this, but now I do believe he will survive this. The bloke can walk on water.
As an aside, i truly believe under commissioner D ick, the met is totally corrupt , and will be 'helping' Johnson as much as they can.
If enough Tories submit letters and Johnson faces a no confidence vote, he will survive that too

very convenient for the police to suddenly change there mind
about a police enquiry just as the report was to surface.
its so obvious that the conservative party ordered this on the quiet .
Johnson has more lives than cats.

Now we know why he and the rest of the cabinet couldn't help but smirk when they kept saying "wait for the Sue Gray Report" - they knew they were going to spike her guns.

He is a danger to us at home and a liability abroad. Nazanin Zaghari and her family are still suffering because he blabbed some nonsense. And who remembers the time when he was visiting somewhere and the British ambassador had to shut him as he was blabbing some offensive 'joke' about the host nation.

Think you’ll find that’s the English public, not meant Tory M.P.s in the rest of the U.K..Mistadobalina wrote: ↑Fri Jan 28, 2022 11:15 am He's gone back to aggressive bluster as his act of contrition was even less believable than all the flagrant lying.

Another meaningless waste of parliament time. It's solely intended to keep the rabid Brexiteers fooled and onside with Johnson's circus.

Re: Tory Watch
From various articles I read, it seems that Sue Gray and with the task she was given as a civil servant is not under the control of the Met police on this. I really hope that she has found a way to report her findings in a way that respects the authority and diligence she has given to the task. Maybe handing it over to somebody in the judiciary? Her work must be made public.Apple Wumble wrote: ↑Fri Jan 28, 2022 10:33 am Good to see The Met are in cahoots with the Government now...our country is in a worrying and sorry state.
Read reports that the police aren't intending to make separate investigations, just writing to any named person in those party allegations "Did you do it? If yes, pay a small fine." And it will all 'blow over' ...

Re: Tory Watch
Former Supreme Court Judge was on Radio Five Live last evening and stated that there was no legal reason for her to follow the Met's "request" to leave anything out. None of the possible charges would be going before a jury, so the "prejudicing a case" argument doesn't really stack up, apparently.
So one possible course of events is that Sue Gray ignores the Met, and hands over her full report to BJ. He, on the other hand, decides that he's going to do what the Met request - 'cos he's such a stickler for following the law, as we all know - so that's his excuse for redacting huge chunks of the report before laying it before Parliament. Of course he'd stated that he'd publish it in full, but now that the polis had made their request, regrettably he'd have to accede to it, blah blah.
Tin pot failed state we all live in.

Re: Tory Watch
Even if Gray gives Johnson the full report, he will not publish it. He will do whatever he thinks gives him the best chance of swerving trouble.
This tinpot country is heading towards authoritarianism, and fascism.
Long as the electorate have Corrie Eastenders & Match of the Day, they'll not be too bothered

The wholly corrupt and not fit for purpose Met have played a blinder by lifting the veil for the public to see how political they actually are. Their tarnished reputation receives further tarnishing.

Re: Tory Watch
It seems Johnson has a copy of the retracted Gray report, and he is going to make a statement to the house at 3.30pm.
Apparently, there's rumours that we the public will never see the full unredacted report.
Total whitewash and stitch up if that's how it turns out.

I knew they were gonna intentionally sabotage this but they've done so in such an obvious and cackhanded manner that I think they've actually made things worse for themselves. The actual findings section is just under a page. Not a single specific reference is made to what happened, it's generalised to the point of complete banality. Any random person could have written exactly the same generic waffle without any access to any files, individuals, diaries, CCTV footage, phone messages etc.

Its farcical but they have not made it worse for themselves. Those that did not believe them still don't - and those that have backed Boris so far will continue to do so.Mistadobalina wrote: ↑Mon Jan 31, 2022 2:41 pm I knew they were gonna intentionally sabotage this but they've done so in such an obvious and cackhanded manner that I think they've actually made things worse for themselves. This will be a miscarriage of justice. He should resign but he won't.
