Frank Lampard

Post by Thor »

Is excused the first day of pre season training so talks can continue with Chelsea. It will be interesting if he takes he post, how he will handle it and will it spoil his legacy there as a player?

I just think that one season with Derby and getting them to the play off final does not make a decent football manager. He signed a few loan players from Premiership clubs to improve his side, even then the Derby fans were showing discontent at one time. These talks with Chelsea are going on for a long time, it is unlikely Derby fans will be too happy with him if he stays

This is just a normal close-season on-going story that seems to take forever: it can soon becomes tedious. I prefer the more sensational over-night breaking-news stories.

Too soon to jump in at Chelsea. The 'legendary status' has clouded their timing.

But they require a manager and coaching team urgently. Their own fault; they rarely look after their managers.

At one time or another.......nearly all football managers end up being sacked.
Chelsea managers of recent years do not seem to stay around for very long.

That is a massive gamble. I wonder why he took it after one year in management?

Ah. A 3 year contract at £4m per year. So he’ll trouser £12m when he’s sacked after 6 months. I see.

It could be a PR masterstroke as they are banned for signing anyone so a top manager won't necessarily want to go there at this time. Cos of what he achieved at the club in his playing career the fans will give him an easy ride. It could work out both ways in the short term.

Wonder what the chances are of him lasting the full 3 years as Chelsea manager ?

BOOKMAKERS are predicting a turbulent time for new Chelsea boss Frank Lampard.

The Blues legend, signed on a three-year deal at Stamford Bridge, is joint favourite to become the first managerial casualty of the Premier League season.

Everybody knows the difficult task in hand for Chelsea's record scorer with 211 goals.

A two-window ban in the transfer market means that Lampard will need to look towards his youth stars to achieve any success this campaign.

He arrives back at the Bridge on the back of play-off defeat following one season in charge at Derby.

But managing Chelsea under ruthless owner Roman Abramovich is a different kettle of fish.

And the bookies have reflected that in their odds in the Premier League sack race.

Priced at 6/1 alongside Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, the pair are leading the pack for the chop.

That is despite being odds-on favourite for his side to finish above the Red Devils by the end of the season.

Swansea's Graham Potter is 7/1 with Sheffield United's Chris Wilder at 10/1.
Premier League Sack Race - Next Manager to Leave

Marco Silva - 14/1

Ralph Hasenhuttl - 16/1

Daniel Farke - 16/1

Unai Emery - 20/1

Roy Hodgson - 25/1

Brendan Rodgers - 25/1

Dean Smith - 33/1

Nuno Espirito Santo - 40/1

Eddie Howe - 40/1

Sean Dyche - 50/1

Mauricio Pochettino - 66/1

Pep Guardiola - 100/1

Jurgen Klopp - 100/1

Hodgson is a value bet if he loses Saha.
