The Worst Place to Live in England..
People just love to categorise things. How can it be Aylesbury? Ridiculous. Do we have an AylesburyO? I think we do.

Re: The Worst Place to Live in England..
Aylesbury Os here. Aylesbury was voted no 1 principally I believe because a Facebook group was stirring it up & encouraging lots of younger people to vote. The only bad thing is the traffic though no doubt simiar to other towns with growing populations. The BUcks CC buiding is bit of an eye sore but we have a decent theatre, canal, market though the night life is not great but we have Thai, Turkish, Italian restaureants, 2 Spoons & a few independent pubs. Locally Wycombe, Slough, Luton are far worse

The worst place I have ever been to, by a country mile is Dewsbury, in West Yorkshire.

Surely Stevenage and Luton should be perennially fighting this out.

Had to work in Aylesbury for a while self-employed, and I must say didn't strike me as awful at all: quite pleasant in fact bar the traffic, but many many places are afflicted in the same way.aylesburyos wrote: ↑Wed Jan 05, 2022 4:39 pm Aylesbury Os here. This seems an odd winner.
Shouts for Luton and Dewsbury seem relevant, and I've always thought (away from the centre anyway) Peterborough to be a total dump.

Re: The Worst Place to Live in England..
Lots of locals on social media disagreeing with being no 1 stating it is far nice than outer London places such as Hayes, Slough, Wycombe where they have moved to Aylesbury from. The poll was not scientific and it was a Facebook groupe ncouraging people to votethat had Aylesbury as no 1Scuba Diver wrote: ↑Thu Jan 06, 2022 8:34 amHad to work in Aylesbury for a while self-employed, and I must say didn't strike me as awful at all: quite pleasant in fact bar the traffic, but many many places are afflicted in the same way.aylesburyos wrote: ↑Wed Jan 05, 2022 4:39 pm Aylesbury Os here. Do not know Aylesbury at all, but knew it could not be the very worst place to bed down in England. Not when it has a Board Member.

My vote would go to Middlesbrough by a long way. Truly grim.

Swindon, should always get a shout. Man City’s second goal sums up the place!

Do you mean Yarmouth, Isle of Wight, or do you mean Great Yarmouth in Norfolk?

Re: The Worst Place to Live in England..
Have stopped off in Aylesbury a few times for a meal in a pub on the way back from somewhere, based on that limited experience we like it!
As to the Yarmouth suggestion above, if Norfolk, it’s a pretty depressed area for sure. But in the summer months it’s great for kids as a holiday resort as plenty to do, used to come up from Loughton as a kid to Norfolk to visit my grandparents who had retired up here, and Yarmouth was always a highlight – talking 1960s mind - but still have a soft spot for it, we visited for a impressive Fire on Water display in November put on there, and usually get to the racecourse once or twice a year, at least outside pandemics.
