Re: Labour Watch
Thanks for that.Admin wrote: ↑Tue Dec 21, 2021 12:39 pm Can't say I have much sympathy with either party. Laura Murray's hardly without resources whilst Riley was represented pro-bono. Most of us are unlikely to ever have the funding to take a libel case the full distance and neither party here emerges with a lot of credit.
The level of damages awarded in terms of defamation are relatively small when considered against Riley's likely earnings and probably reflective of the "damage" to Riley's reputation. Like plenty on the far left side of things, Riley and her mate Tracy-Ann Oberman aren't exactly backwards in organising twitter pile on's when it suits their agendas and the judgement here doesn't in my opinion equate to her being vindicated in her campaign against antisemitism. Can't even see where AS has any relevance to this legal action.
Interesting point though in the summation on Riley's post being provocative and it also seems that had Murray included Riley's tweet, the result could have been different. Regardless, the whole case is pretty ridiculous and doesn't achieve anything for anyone.
What a waste of everyone’s time. Much like Countdown, to be honest.

Re: Labour Watch
This was inevitable one day, and that day is now.
IMO this brings the whole honours system into even further disrepute

Re: Labour Watch
Surely Boris giving a gong to a billionaire Tory donor is more of an issue?

Tory leaders have been giving gongs to donors for years & years. not a new thing. These donors know they are buying an honour, its a cosy business arrangementRonnie Hotdogs wrote: ↑Sat Jan 01, 2022 11:09 amSurely Boris giving a gong to a billionaire Tory donor is more of an issue?

Security Prosperity Respect sounds like the motto your local comp adopts when an academy takes it over.
What a crock of bland nothingness.

Unfortunately, that sort of sh*t appeals to the scared Tory types. Worried about losing their wealth, about nasty brown people breaking into their big house, and harking back to the good old days.Ronnie Hotdogs wrote: ↑Tue Jan 04, 2022 10:42 pm Security Prosperity Respect sounds like the motto your local comp adopts when an academy takes it over.

Looking at the torys on here, it’s spot on. I don’t think you need a lot to get them on board. Whether it’s worth leaving your morals behind for, to get into power is another question.

All three things are good things though surely?
Agree that it should have been "Security, Prosperity, Respect, Palestine" to throw some red lentils to the left for the sake of unity though.

Re: Labour Watch
How the hell has Starmer managed to catch Covid twice in three months?
Apparently this is now his sixth self-isolation period. It means that Labour are sending in Rayner to bat in today's PMQs.

Even Boris has only had it twice hasn’t he, and he insists on walking round covid wards maskless and shaking hands with everyone.

All those legal experts yet none have read Law for beginners. Or maybe they have, them moved on to law for experts.Max B Gold wrote: ↑Tue Dec 21, 2021 10:26 amI don't have a team on this one. Not mixing it. Just suggesting those in high legal circles have moved on from the beginners guide. I bloody well hope so. So maybe they know a little bit more than the rest of us.tuffers#1 wrote: ↑Wed Jan 05, 2022 5:09 pmdohNut back trying to"mix it" again. welcome back AGAIN doh.Dohnut wrote: ↑Wed Jan 05, 2022 5:06 pmAll those legal experts yet none have read Law for beginners. Nick Ferrari said it was his third case of covid. He must be the unluckiest man alive, triple jabbed as well.
