Re: Game OFF.
Rovers , didn’t have enough players, lots of injuries........
This is getting silly now.
Also, what happened to this new , no tests on day of game rule then...
Total and utter farce.

Re: Game OFF.
It was never going to happen. Their game last Wednesday was called off several days beforehand, they were never going to have enough available players 3 days later. Ridiculous situation.

Re: Game OFF.
Credit to Rovers for professionally calling this off last minute. Very much the way a club should behave according to a lot of our fans a few weeks ago.

Re: Game OFF.
Presumably thats asymptomatic testing. If a player has symptoms then they need to test to prevent potentially circulating it to others.
Great job by Rovers/Barton though to say just enough to sound like the game would be taking place when in reality they knew it was never going to happen. Utter cretins.

Re: Game OFF.
Surely they were going to disrupt and pee off their own fans more though by doing this as a lot of them would’ve already left. Reading from twitter they’re well annoyed (rightfully)Smendrick Feaselberg wrote: ↑Sat Jan 01, 2022 10:25 amPresumably thats asymptomatic testing. Re: Game OFF.
Probably part of their plan to make it look like they were committed to playing today when they had no intention of doing so. Relegation fodder clearly wouldn't have wanted a thumping today.kokomO wrote: ↑Sat Jan 01, 2022 10:28 amSurely they were going to disrupt and pee off their own fans more though by doing this as a lot of them would’ve already left. That’s outrageous, what a way to run a ‘professional’ organisation. This wouldn’t be out of place from our clown days...
I used to not mind rovers too much, lower league brothers in arms and all that. Not anymore, what a shower, they’ve now gone on my list. Can’t wait to smash em later in the season.

Re: Game OFF.
I 'knew' this game wouldnt happen, and I cant believe there actually was anyone who thought it would go ahead.
Just out of interest, if there are no LFT available, how come these people know they have Covid?

Re: Game OFF.
A quick look at soccerbase shows no one named Barton in their squad so yep, it must have been.
That same quick look also showed they have 44 players in their squad, so the covid situation down there must be horrific if 30 of their players have got it.

Re: Game OFF.
I've managed to order LFTs three times since Monday from the government website (including this morning).
If tests aren't available that makes it even more convenient, as the government advice to isolate if you have the known symptoms.

Re: Game OFF.
EFL have lost any credibility now. It seems teams can ‘decide’ if they want to play or postpone. This will result in a massive backlog that will become impossible to complete before end of season. In these difficult times who is more important, fans or teams? If the former fans are treated with contempt if the latter fans are still treated with contempt. EFL is there purely for teams NOT for fans.
Football is an entertainment and in the theatre understudies get their chance when they replace indisposed actors. Same in most concerts. Whilst I accept Bristol Rovers couldn’t field their first eleven they could have fielded a team from the professionals that are on their pay role. Unless a team can’t field at least 14 professionals then ok to postpone but if they can they must either play or forfeit the 3 points.
Remember our cup game against Spurs earlier this year….about time we saw some consistency.

Re: Game OFF.
Agree with a lot of what you say bu the Spurs forfeit was written in the rules. There are no such rules for the PL or EFL.Winchesterfan wrote: ↑Sat Jan 01, 2022 11:04 am EFL have lost any credibility now. It seems teams can ‘decide’ if they want to play or postpone. Re: Game OFF.
Exactly Winchester. We had a depleted squad but still fulfilled our fixture at Tranmere. We could only name four substitutes for that game.

Re: Game OFF.
What I fear is that in response to so many games being postponed that the league tighten up the requirements and start to properly investigate the postponed games, and sods law Orient get caught up in it after so many teams (like we have seen yoday) manipulated it to their advantage.RedDwarf 1881 wrote: ↑Sat Jan 01, 2022 11:32 am Exactly Winchester. The league should be properly investigating these postponements, but with so many of these and difficulty proving things retrospectively you can see why clubs like Bristol Rovers are taking this option when they had little chance of getting a result today owing to injuries (which are part and parcel of football) and are dangerously close to the relegation places.
The thing that gets me is idiotic fans slating us for going ahead with a game when we had enough players under the league rules. That vitriol should be reserved for the teams that are taking the piss, like Rovers did.

Re: Game OFF.
From the Rovers site
"On the advice of our doctor, in conjunction with the EFL doctor, those individuals are required to isolate whilst they get a PCR test and the decision was made to postpone the game.
Although this is extremely disappointing and frustrating, we have to follow the advice of the medical professionals.''
So, some players/staff have tested positive on a lateral flow test without a PCR. Not every club is as honest as ours and I hope we haven't been stitched up with some contaminated Lateral Flow Tests eg a drop of lemon juice or something similar as Rovers were desperate to get this one called off.
Not ideal preparation in advance of the Stoke City cup game (where I am at the moment). The locals seem to think the cup is not their priority and they a build up of games around the match day. We will no doubt be rusty but with Stoke likely to field an under strength team, there is still a chance of a win on the day!!

Re: Game OFF.
Of course there’s always a chance of a win but the Cup isn’t our priority either especially with our League games beginning to pile up.brentwoodo wrote: ↑Sat Jan 01, 2022 12:12 pm From the Rovers site
