I’d guess it’s in that ball park too.

Although that’s a decent wage and one lots of people would love to earn, DM will be dealing with arseholes on a daily basis pulling in multiple times more than that for doing a fraction of the work and under a fraction of the pressure he has to contend with.

So will this consultancy business be a partnership or a company? Remember that depending on profit levels it is still tax advantageous to operate through a company and the limited liability protection it gives could save you when you screw up and get sued (obvs, not saying you will). Anyway no matter which route you go down remember client entertaining is NEVER tax deductible.

Back on topic, Danny has done lots of good things and seems very competent in the role. He’s probably what we needed at our lowest ebb, someone who is a great marketer who is good at generating money.

However, I’m hoping there’s a bit of a reshuffle and the CEO role covers more than the commercial side of things. Considering the new investors and stability in the league I’d also like a change in tact to us plastering a name on every square inch of Brisbane road to get money. We’ve definitely lost something about our identity in the last few years and that’s not Danny’s fault, but how’s a good opportunity to consider our strategy in that area.

The consultancy could help clubs seamlessly blend corporate sponsorship with the sporting experience. For cricket, why not have a papa johns delivery driver do a lap of the field on his moped in-between overs? Or slip in some morally dubious branding to a stand or stadium name? Naming stuff after heroes or legends just doesn't pay.
