What is the point of any particular music genre, been enjoying heavy rock and metal since the 70's
Id agree with the 1st part of your reply

What is the point of all music genres.
Is there not enough noise in the world ?
Musiuc definitely brings people of all ages, races and gender together.
When you go to a gig there is no trouble, just loads of people enjoying themselves, so yes its well worth having
I take it you never went to a "Cockney rejects" gig then ?

Wonder how it would be viewed if a white middle aged Orient fan(gammon)wore a stab proof Union Jack vest?

Ground breaking? Only on the fact he’s the first British black rapper to headline at Glastonbury

Message to his community hmm so not to the wider community then keep it in Norbury innit that’ll work

He’s not the first Artiste to put his political message across and won’t be the last

He’s not the first artiste to combine ballet and other art forms either

Basically he’s a media darling at the moment
But that can change in a heartbeat

One of my daughters questioned why he was using the N word in almost every song

Sorry I wasn’t convinced

Like some of it blinded by the grace is a great song but personally don't think he had enough of a catalogue to be a headliner.

I think not only is he utter sh*t but that genre of music is also sh*t. It’s time it was buried once and for all. Have people never heard Motown.

Having stood in that field and watched Kanye meander through a few hits and not even feel like he was bothered about where he was, thought it was clear how important it was to Stormzy and with a limited back catalogue, he did well.
I’m obviously aware of him and the genre but never listened to anything properly. He’s definitely the real deal.
I saw him on some Football type programme by accident one morning taking penalties. He scored a few but looked a bit awkward. CNDAJ.

Big fan of his ranty shouting. But does it really need to be so loud?

It does not surprise me in the slightest that the Orient forum demographic doesn't get Stormzy. Entertaining reading nonetheless.

What a strange comment to make about him being the real deal when you admit to not having listened to his music properly.

I've seen him live before he was famous so I'm proper hard core!
My point being I was aware of the hype around him without having listened or watched him. But having seen that show last night, I can see why he’s where he is. It was sensational. He is worthy of all the praise coming his way.

I liked that he’s obviously a very humble young man but isn’t scared to make a point and stand against today’s issues.

The Union Jack stab proof vest was almost genius and amazing that people on here can’t get why he was wearing it.

Ironically he's doing the same thing Dylan did. Calling out the government, making songs about the societal ills of the days. Same thing, different times.

Yet no one has ever suggested to me that im somehow making a claim i understand the life experience of growing up in a Jewish communtiy in America or that I was hanging around in the bars of New York in the 60's because i enjoy listening to him. Funny that.

Im not actually that fussed about Stormzy's music but respect that he is doing something that isn't defined by one genre and the way he uses the platform he has. I do like Dave who i heard was on with him, very talented kid despite going by such a dull name. Started out as Santan Dave, which was perhaps even worse.

Embarrassing. Most of those eulogising him wouldn't recognise him if he walked up and headbutted them.

Not sure what relevance that has but i doubt i'd recognise Bob Dylan if he walked up and nutted me, at best i might say, 'That bloke who just nutted me looked a bit like a really old wrinkly Bob Dylan'. I've got a terrible memory for faces.
