This is the best bit. Not just any doctor, but the "doctor in charge".

I asked is it because of covid? She replied and I quote "we have less than a handful of people in this hospital with covid, Omnicron is not putting people in hospital and is very mild more like a cold than a flu. I'm quite hopeful that this is the tail end of covid, not because of what the doctor said today, but due to the natural evolution of a virus as it burns itself out.
The Ambulance service in London is running as normal even though Khan has called a state of emergency. Before anyone says ‘prove it’, it is on BBC website

My mum passed out, fell and broke her hip last week and was on the floor in agony for 8 hours until they could send an ambulance. If that's normal service then I'm appalled.

Sadly that has happened for years. My Mum had a bad fall in 2014 and had a long wait for an ambulance.

People treat A&E like a walk-in GP given they can't get appointments when they want

Reporting time lag on a Monday innit.

If we're not at 100k tomorrow then at least that's something.

No new restrictions yet

Boris says "cases of Omicron are "surging and hospitalisations are rising quite steeply in London"."

Anyone got the numbers?

I guess this shows it going up relatively steeply but assume they have more data and the next few days will show us.

Year on year we appear to be better off (not really the right phrase) but the sharp spike we saw in jan this year could reoccur. Or it might not.
