Re: Coronavirus
Sure 1000 Moronic hospitalisations a day sounds bad and it should be dominant within a few weeks, but we peaked at almost 4000 a day last winter.
I don't know what numbers the nhs can cope with and it is sensible to try and keep the numbers as low as possible.
This isnt a lockdown and if you don't want one, i suggest you COMPLY.

Re: Coronavirus
Was thinking that too about hospitalisations when I saw that earlier, especially as they were higher than 1k/day towards the end of October.
Guess it's more of an issue around this time because hospitalsations for other things tend to be higher during and around winter time.

Re: Coronavirus
I haven't looked at the details but perhaps they are factoring in Delta numbers on top of that 1000.

Got mine yesterday - so that's 3 doses plus an actual case of Covids - I feel like Achilles (without the weak spot in the heel, of course)

Re: Coronavirus
Anyone else doing the fingerprick antibody testing here? Where you send a little vial of blood off? Just sent my second one off but it seems like a bit of a waste of time to be honest - maybe it's helping the medicos though.

Bit embarrassed for the club that those players are having that asked after.ComeOnYouOs wrote: ↑Thu Dec 09, 2021 9:17 pmYou'll never know that. It's their choice, and privateCurrywurst and Chips wrote: ↑Thu Dec 09, 2021 9:09 pm Which O's players are unvaccinated and risking their and our season?

Re: Coronavirus
Why would you want to. It is doubling every 2 days and by the end of December it will be the dominant variant. The half baked restrictions are not doing anything to slow it’s progress and all evidence points to it being no more threatening than a cold. No deaths have been attributed to this variant.
Instead of acting on the result of the problem , as we always do , we should be sharpening our efforts along with WHO to attack the cause. We should be insisting on countries achieving 80% vaccination and placing restrictions on those that don’t. Until this happens , we may be dealing with variants for years and others may be more destructive than this one.

Re: Coronavirus
Do you not think it’s rate of spreading might be higher without these half baked restrictions?

Re: Coronavirus
But agree with you on placing restrictions on those countries that haven’t bought up all the vaccines like we have.

Re: Coronavirus
I would agree with that , but , from day one in South Africa the scientists said that it was highly transmissible and doubling every 2-3 days. It is doing that here with these semi restrictions. So the indications are that they are making little difference.Ronnie Hotdogs wrote: ↑Sat Dec 11, 2021 12:02 pm Do you not think it’s rate of spreading might be higher without these half baked restrictions?

Re: Coronavirus
Can you please post links to all this evidence? As I'm unable to find much concrete evidence on Omicron at all

Re: Coronavirus
Would be good to know. As I think I said earlier in the thread, if it isn’t as severe then it might end up being a good thing. Highly transmission means everyone gets natural immunity without getting ill. Would also mean that number of daily infections wouldn’t really matter too much and therefore restrictions can ease again.

Re: Coronavirus
I hope that is the case. I am , as you know , against any restrictions provided we have vaccinations and boosters.Apple Wumble wrote: ↑Sat Dec 11, 2021 12:33 pm Would be good to know.
