Re: Migrants crossing the channel
It's ridiculous that someone has to get here illegally, before they can claim asylum
They should be able to claim asylum, in British Embassies anywhere in the world.
Their case can then be given consideration, and if accepted, they come into the country as legal citizens.

Much better to just get here and there is then very little chance of being kicked out.ComeOnYouOs wrote: ↑Fri Nov 26, 2021 9:18 pm It's ridiculous that someone has to get here illegally, before they can claim asylum

Re: Migrants crossing the channel
Italy, Greece, Germany and Turkey have taken in excess of 200,000 migrants EACH this years, and the UK is sh*tting its pants at less than 1/10th of that. Whatever happened to humanity, eh? Some people on here need a f*cking good slap.

If she is not invited she can't be blamed, not her fault, so what do you think she should do, you are reverting to type now, desperation bad language, and abuse your stock in trade.tuffers#1 wrote: ↑Sun Nov 28, 2021 12:58 pmIm not the Home F*cking Secretary !!Type high wrote: ↑Sun Nov 28, 2021 10:45 amNeither were you, another surprise?. not, Just the French being anti-British yet again, a bit like you really. More up to date than you know, yes knew about his letter personally wasn't strong enough in my view, doesn't matter if uninvited or not invited as you full well know, so what can she do if not there, you still haven't come up with a reply to that. Once again you resort to being a little schoolboy by calling names very childish.tuffers#1 wrote: ↑Sun Nov 28, 2021 10:36 pmYou really dont keep upto date with current affairs do you.

Re: Migrants crossing the channel
Russia has now banned all civilian access within 30km of the Ukraine border. The last time this happened was just prior to the Donbass invasion. Belarus has sent an armoured division with tanks to its border with Ukraine.Dunners wrote: ↑Fri Nov 12, 2021 4:02 pm Ah, more of the picture of what Lukashenko and Putin are up to is beginning to reveal itself. Aside from using migrants to undermine and attack the EU, it may be part of a wider play that includes military action and further annexation of Ukrainian territory.
The pattern is that the locations where migrants have been thrown against borders started in the Baltic states, and has been progressing further south along the Polish border. Anticipating that this may eventually reach their border, the Ukrainian government has mobilised troops to reinforce the border it shares with Belarus.
The US is also now briefing the EU that they have intelligence that suggests Russia is considering a further invasion into Ukraine, especially while its attention is being drawn elsewhere. There are reports of a high number of Russian troops and vehicles amassing near the border and that some units have already covertly entered into Ukraine.
Poland is now sending military reinforcements to its border and our MoD has confirmed its sending a small team over to provide some minor technical support. While it may be a small show of support from the UK, it is no doubt intended to send a message to Russia and Belarus that we'll stand with Poland. It is possibly also a cheeky way of the UK undermining the EU to some extent.
Things are certainly getting more interesting over there.
I mean, they may be calling our bluff, but it ain't looking good.

I'm waiting on a book to arrive about Putins rise to power by Catherine Belton a ICIJ journalist. The contents of the book are being challenged by Abramovich in Court at the moment.
Belton, on the account of Sergei Pugachev, alleges that Abramovich acquired Chelsea Football Club in 2003 under Putin's instructions.

Re: Migrants crossing the channel
Anyone who is guided by the likes of Milne et al is displaying very poor judgement.
But there has certainly been a tendency to turn a blind eye to the provenance of Russian wealth that has been invested in this country (and the same thing is happening with Chinese and Arab money too). Whether that's buying of property or City investments. Increasing tensions between western democracies and autocratic states could well bring about a day of reckoning that some will find very uncomfortable.

The Arab investment predates the Chinese by a couple of decades.Dunners wrote: ↑Tue Nov 30, 2021 11:00 am Anyone who is guided by the likes of Milne et al is displaying very poor judgement.

The influx of money from Russian kleptocrats has been a useful source of finance and business opportunities for the Tory Party, its members and supporters. So not so much of a blind eye turned, more get in amongst it and share the spoils.

Re: Migrants crossing the channel
I'll have to check out the Catherine Belton book.
Lots of NATO activity currently in the Baltic States, including British forces. Our own Liz Truss has been photo'd trying to mimic the old "Thatcher in a tank" look. We have also sent an armoured Brigade into Poland. Russian Foreign Minister, Sergei Lavrov, has also just made a comment regarding NATO moving a significant amount of military equipment on Russia’s border. The implication being that they're taking it as a provocation.
Back on the Ukraine border, there are reports of increasing sniper fire and drone attacks along the trenches (yes, they actually have trenches) coming from the Russian side, which is a breach of the ceasefire agreement.
Ukrainian military are now convinced that a full scale invasion is imminent. The only thing they are not sure of is whether it will be to just occupy more of the South East region, which would give Putin almost complete control of gas production and distribution. Of if Russia will move in and up to Dneiper River. That would mean about 50% of Ukraine is occupied, including Kyiv.
If this happens (and there's still a chance it wont), the implications are huge. And yet mainstream news hardly seems to be interested.
