He'd only just got back from another quite serious injury, he won't be rushed back. With respect Lucky I doubt your required fitness levels after your nasty injury were anywhere near those required of a pro in the EFL.

Post Brexit, we shall have all the fish back ( what is left of them that is ! ) in our own fishing grounds.
Remember when we had plenty of our own fish before we joined the Common Market, ahh the days of a visiting my fish and chip shop, pre joining the EEC in 1973. Nice piece of fried cod for around one shilling and three pence ( old money ! ) and portion of chips for three pence, altogether one shilling and six pence, that is seven and half pence in today's decimal currency !! Rock eel ( also called Rock Salmon in those days ) was a bit cheaper, around ten pence old money, hardly ever see rock eel in fish and chip shops now. Yes for youngsters who were not around at that time, fish and chips was always wrapped up in new unsold newspapers. I often read parts of them once I had eaten my fish and chips out of them ! So in actual fact, fish and chips from the fish and chip shops are now nearly 90 times more expensive than they were in the sixties going on the early 1970s and I was taking home £25 a week clear in 1970 ! so £25 times 90 that makes £2250 now, so that shows how fish and chips were far cheaper in relative terms to buy back then than they are today !

Lucky the levels between both games are a lot, more than you might think or realise. The levels between our league and the premier is massive in terms of fitness and speed.

But they are. When the two teams collide in cup matches the fitness levels are different, the speed at which they play is higher before you get to the technical parts like sight and how they see the game quicker as well.

One off games when the better team don’t try too hard or apply themselves as they should is mostly what happens,

LittleMate wrote: Thu Jun 27, 2019 5:05 pm It will be the terms on offer he does not like IMO. I reckon we are hedging the contract - rightly so - based on the fact that he's been injured and will be of little value to us next season. I say this because he will need a long run - 25 games - to get fit. That's next season out of the way because I doubt whether he will play a full part in pre-season training, if at all. This December he turns 31 as well.

Sad for all concerned really, because when he was on song he was easily a L2 player. It will take some effort on his part to be the player he was, but good luck to him regardless of whether he signs.
He’s part of the pre season training

25 games to get match fit ? 😂
Yes but even that would be a tall order for him; he's only played c.200 games in 9 seasons and the past 2 seasons have seen long periods out with injury. He's stepping up a level too - and it must be a step up because everyone notice the step down to the NL. He won't be anywhere near as sharp as we remember him for at least 25 games. Any less and its welcome news (if he signs!).

I like Dayton and hope he signs a new deal. I'm not sure, though, how much will he be able to play this season. At the celebrations at the end of last season, when he was on crutches, it looked like he would be out until at least Christmas.

Does anyone know the prognosis?

I missed that clue

That's the worry with signing him given the club don't exactly seem to be falling over themselves to get numbers in. Basically means relying solely on JMD and we're back to having a paper thin squad in a key area (also bear in mind no more get out of jail free card playing Koroma there as we did last season).

It's one of those where emotion seems to be playing a part in the decision to offer a new contract. Quality player when fit and probably a good egg in the camp but it's a luxury to sign someone who might only play half a season if we're lucky.

Agree. We are going up a league and need fit players who are up to the standard of Division 2 or better !

We’ve form in that area, signing unready players. Gorman for example. Personally if he gets a new deal, sentiment will be playing a big part. My opinion.

I reckon we will need four more players. Two strikers, one central midfielder and a winger.

I have an idea - let’s leave it to the last minute like the last few years. That way, the best available players are already taken and we get left with the rejects like Alabi.

Sounds like a key club strategy.

Unfortunately this club never learn so I think. You may be right but I hope I am proved wrong with great signings by the end of the day on Monday.
