Should we keep, or ditch The Royal Family? POLL
There's some who think the Royal Family are a wonderful institution, but there are others who think its past its sell by date.
So, if there was a referendum today, asking would you keep the Royal family, how would you vote?

Think of all the tourism money they bring. Our economy would shrink without them.

If we get rid of them, who will foot the bill for maintaining the many castles and palaces they live in? Us the taxpayer will get lumbered with it, that’s who. Some people need to grow up and have a think before spouting this treasonous rubbish. Sad.

I have been a republican all my life.
The monarchy costs so much money, how can it be right for people who just about get by, to subsidise one of the richest familes in the world.
Having said all that, it wont happen anytime soon, so its not something, i spend too much time thinking about

Well maybe you should spend a bit more time thinking about it. Then you’d see the error of your ways.

Tourism accounts for about 37% of our GDP, of which the Royals are responsible for at least half, so that’s quite a lot of per cent we would lose without them.

While my instincts are not pro-Royalist, the system of democracy we have seems to work ok with the Monarch as head of State, and I guess I like the historical traditions of it. So I’ll stay with it, just need it to be slimmed down a bit, so in some ways well done Harry and Meghan for jumping ship, providing they have jumped ship!
