James Dayton
Unless I've missed something he's yet to sign a new contract isn't he? Current deal runs out at the end of the week.

Re: James Dayton
Injury prone and last i heard, still injured. one year deal seems about right to me.
If no agreement can be reached, then look for someone else to fill that position.

Cant imagine he wont sign it. Not sure who else is gonna pay him the same as us after he has had two bad injuries in two seasons.

Makes you wonder why we are renewing. Surely we can attract better now we're back in the league?

Re: James Dayton
It will be the terms on offer he does not like IMO. I reckon we are hedging the contract - rightly so - based on the fact that he's been injured and will be of little value to us next season. I say this because he will need a long run - 25 games - to get fit. That's next season out of the way because I doubt whether he will play a full part in pre-season training, if at all. This December he turns 31 as well.
Sad for all concerned really, because when he was on song he was easily a L2 player. It will take some effort on his part to be the player he was, but good luck to him regardless of whether he signs.

Not quite sure why so many of our fans seem to have written the guy off, when the club clearly haven't.

If he's in pre-season training with us then surely he's going to sign his new contract.

Re: James Dayton
He doesn't have to train with the team though. That is unless he is doing so to prove he can still offer something, which would be down to his next contract and not his current one.

He has been too much of a sicknote for my liking.
All the best for your move, James.

Re: James Dayton
Pretty much this. He has been offered a contract but I suspect he needs to prove his fitness after what were almost back to back injuries, he will probably go onto a week to week deal until a decision on his fitness is made.Smendrick Feaselberg wrote: ↑Thu Jun 27, 2019 7:34 pmHe doesn't have to train with the team though. How bad was his injury in terms of when he can start playing again?!Top of the West. wrote: ↑Thu Jun 27, 2019 8:33 pmPretty much this. Re: James Dayton
No reason for him not training with the team, even if he is planning to move on. Just keeping fit with mates, with whom helped become champions. Nothing odd.

Re: James Dayton
I would think he's doing some very light training and lots of strengthening work at the moment, would imagine he'll be a few weeks away come the start of the season but I'm sure we'll get an update from the club in a few days.gshaw wrote: ↑Thu Jun 27, 2019 8:55 pmHow bad was his injury in terms of when he can start playing again?!Top of the West. wrote: ↑Thu Jun 27, 2019 8:33 pmPretty much this. Re: James Dayton
Dislocated ankle I had one few years back
Took about 3 months to get back on my feet properly but I was playing Football again 5-6 weeks after that had to have the old physio and stuff
