So why not charge for use of the toilets in the building? For using the front door? The corridors? the Air Conditioning or the heating? The beds? The operating theatres ? All of these things have to "paid for" according to your logic - someone has to pay, don't they?

Why pick on parking?

I'm surprised you've not thought this through, to be honest.

Why pick on parking. Because that was the point being raised. I’m keeping to the point.

There is a cost associated with running the car park. Of course there is. We all know that. That cost is not met from those using it through parking fees. So who picks up the tab? You tell me. Think about it.

Well I guess I'd go back to the founding principles, and decide that the hospital, as a whole, is a service to the nation, and pay for it out of the common good. The whole hospital - the road going in, the parking, the front door, the toilets, corridors, wards, beds, nurses stations, staff rooms etc, is a service to the nation. So we continue to pay for it in the same way it was paid for when I was growing up - out of the taxation pot.

It's only in very recent times that it was decided there was a captive market to be soaked for excessive parking fees so that some private companies could make profits out of the process, while kicking back some of the income to the NHS.

Out of the taxation pot is the right answer. Someone pays for it. If its not the users at the point of service it’s probably the tax payers. Removing the cost at point of entry shifts the costs to the tax payer, who subsidise those using the facility.

I’m not arguing about whether people who use the car park should pay or not. I have some sympathy with these facilities being subsidised, Nationalised even, free at point of use.

The fees the sick and NHS staff have to pay are too much. Because as well as meeting the minimal maintenance costs, arseholes like this are also taking their cut.

Anyone defending the current system is sad.

Comparing a bloke running the line on Saturdays is hardly the same thing as a non-exec ‘consulting’ role with a gambling/pharma/house building etc plc.

I guess the recent sleaze and second jobbers stories have wound up enough Tory voters to lose them a few votes in favour of ‘no policies’ Starmer. The preceding and ongoing cronyism, lies & incompetence was ok though for their base

Time for Sir Kier to score another own goal by concentrating harder on lefty-bashing than the Blue team, then…

Labour has opened up a six-point lead over the Conservatives as a row over sleaze continues to damage the government, a poll has suggested.

Forty per cent of people would vote for Labour in an election today compared to just 34 per cent for the Tories, according to the latest Savanta ComRes data.

Jewish voice for Labour is a sham organisation set up and run by Corbynists in order to muddy the waters as I’m sure you’re well aware of.

Thank you for clarifying.

Strange that Anti-Semitism.org were set up in October 2015. I wonder what happened in September 2015 to bring that about?

August 2014 actually. Long before Corbyn became leader.
