Love the way the BBC are presenting it as the biggest increase "since records began in 1997".

As if nobody knows what is was during the 1970s and 1980s.

You can argue over the different indices (CPI, RPI, etc) but anything for a sensational headline.

But it IS the BIGGEST RISE since RECORDS BEGAN in 1997 .

BBC earlier today: The UK inflation rate hit 3.2% in the year to August, the biggest increase since records began in 1997, as the economy continued to reopen.

Yes, the CPI has hit its highest increase since records began in 1997, but to suggest that the UK inflation rate had its biggest increase since records began (early last century) is misleading and it's good to see the BBC correct its error.

I see this as a good thing, after all theres plenty of government appeasers and tories at the BBC. If they balance their appointments, they might start to get a little respect back

I wouldn't be surprised by a 0.25% rise by about April. Any more than that risks carnage with all those who really stretched themselves to buy during the stamp duty holiday. Post-April is when price inflation will start to affect metrics though, so beyond that could see the B.o.E ordering in pizza for a few late night sessions.

Now prices of a lot of things are noticably more expensive than six months ago, and everyone's a bit 'Meh' about it.

Maybe because inflation reduces the cost of (the now massive) government debt it's alright with them. Just us plebs who can't afford stuff who need to worry! Surely not.
