Charlie Grainger joins Dulwich Hamlets
Glad he's got a gig, it is too easy for players (especially goalkeepers - anybody remember Jake Larkins) to pack it in too early, After showing so much promise early on in his career I would hate for his last game to have been the Torquay debacle - never did play under Edinburgh (correct me if I'm wrong).

Lee Butcher also retired shortly after leaving us.
Pleased for Charlie. Never really developed as we hoped and was thrown under the buss by Davis/Ling a bit to be thrown into the first team when he probably wasn't ready. Also went through being swapped in and out in the league two relegation season.

Grainger left Orient at the end of this season following his release along with Alex Lawless, Charlie Lee and Jay Simpson.

What actually happened to Jake Larkins? Where did he go? Is he still playing football?
Anyone know?

Re: Charlie Grainger joins Dulwich Hamlets
It’s a shame really as before he did his knee he was playing really well for us.
Re: Charlie Grainger joins Dulwich Hamlets
I totally disagree. He had loads of chances under Davis and was an absolute disaster. In fact, I would say that his awful goalkeeping was a large part of our problems at that time. As soon as Edinburgh brought in Brill (a proper goalkeeper) things started to turn around.

Re: Charlie Grainger joins Dulwich Hamlets
From the games I saw Granger play in, he did some very good instinctive, reaction type saves but lacked confidence and judgement when coming out for crosses. He was also lacking when it came to vocally communicating to his defence. Perhaps as time goes on, he can learn to improve on the areas of the game where he is lacking. So ability is there but plenty of scope for improvement, also needs to work on his positioning, narrowing the angles etc, John Jackson was a master at that !!

Re: Charlie Grainger joins Dulwich Hamlets
That's just the point. All goalkeepers make great instinctive saves, but it's the other aspects of goalkeeping that you mention that are more important. I know he was young, but judgement for crosses etc should be instinct for a good goalkeeper.

He was 19 at the time, for Christ’s sake!
Dulwich are making some very good signings and have one of the best managers in non-League. They’re also my local team these days, and I’ll look forward to seeing Charlie playing for them when I can’t get to the O’s.

Nice one Stowaway please report back once you’ve seen him and let us know how he did. I always thought he was a good keeper trying to make his way at an uncertain time at the club. I hope he does well and comes again.

Re: Charlie Grainger joins Dulwich Hamlets
Two years ago this week, he had an outstanding game at Tranmere (1-2).
Don`t think he has played a game for Dulwich Hamlets yet. Not even on the bench for them.

Was he the guy that played away against Wolves in December 2013? (And a game against I think Gillingham before that)ComeOnYouOs wrote: ↑Wed Jun 26, 2019 8:03 pm What actually happened to Jake Larkins? Where did he go? Is he still playing football?

Larkins quit the game I think, seem to remember reading something along those lines last season.
