Ratings.
Never looked like scoring until the lovely finish from Ruel. Smith needs to be dropped, he is one of our better players but his presence is doing us no favours whatsoever. We just lump it up to him over and over.
Vigouroux. 5.5. Back to his wonky kicking.
Wood. 5.5. Not playing particularly well lately.
Ogie 8. MOM by a country mile.
Beccles. 6. Fairly solid.
Mitchell. 6. A couple of Miss-kicks and he does have a habit of that. Otherwise another decent game.
James. 7.5. Good game and one great tackle to prevent a goal. Not sure who lost their man for the goal? If it was him then minus 1.
Kemp. 6. Not great. At least he never dropped his head and kept on going.
Hector. 5.5. Need some competition for him and Pratley. Both are struggling a little
Pratley. 5.5. Workhorse.
Smyth. 6. Some nice touches but not yet fully fit.
Smith. 6. Always involved but I think that’s part of our problem. His headers go all over the show.
Subs. Ruel. 7. Great strike. Archibald. 6.
Forest green. 7. Will win the league IMO.
Jacket. 6. We are too predictable.

Re: Ratings.
Ogie played extremely well. MOTM is a given. James too, what a great player, though his crosses maybe not up to his usual standard.
I thought Kemp played well. Hector off his game.
Smyth will be really good for us when fully fit.

Re: Ratings.
Yes. Kemp got better as the game went on. Perhaps a 6 a little harsh as he never stopped running.

Vig 6
James 7
Wood 6
Mitchell 6
Beckles 7
Ogie 7
Hector 6
Pratley 6
Kemp 6
Smith 5
Smyth 6
Subs
Ruel 7
Archibald 6
Solid at the back again, Vigs didn’t have much to do. James done well against their left winger. Shad and Beckles were so solid once again, shad gets better every game.
Loads of changes up top but it still didn’t work. All because Jackett refuses to make the one obvious change. Look at our goal, that’s when we’re at our best, with players like Kemp and Ruel and Archibald running at defences at pace. Smith doesn’t fit that plan.

Re: Ratings.
What is the point of Hector? Guy manages to coast through each game looking like a vaguely plausible footballer without ever doing much decisive. Sense there's a decent player somewhere in him but he's a bad partner for Pratley, who does the dirty work well but has noone to give the ball to who can progress play.
We were hitting teams a lot quicker on the break earlier in the season and I think other side's have sussed out that if you drop off against us we don't have the nous on the ball to make much happen.

Re: Ratings.
Too many draws but going one down against the league leaders a point tonight is ok. Great goal from Ruel. When we counter attacked freely and quickly from their corner.
We look very solid but have no spark currently.
Kemp wasn’t bad but you could tell he’s not played that much recently.
No sure why Drinan has suddenly been dropped

Ruel is the best finisher we have at the club. We should be building our front line around him imo

Re: Ratings.
I don't get the Kyrpianou love in either. Gives the ball away a lot and isn't giving Pratley much assistance controlling midfield. Hope Reilly comes good as neither Kyprianou or Clay are the answer imo.Ronnie Hotdogs wrote: ↑Tue Oct 19, 2021 10:04 pmAwful assessment.Mistadobalina wrote: ↑Tue Oct 19, 2021 9:57 pm What is the point of Hector? I believe Drinnan is here as back up to Smith only. And Smith appears to be undroppable.HenleyO wrote: ↑Tue Oct 19, 2021 9:57 pm Too many draws but going one down against the league leaders a point tonight is ok. Great goal from Ruel. When we counter attacked freely and quickly from their corner.

He’s a 20 year old kid. I’m happy for him to make a few mistakes as he learns the game, so long as he keeps progressing.gshaw wrote: ↑Tue Oct 19, 2021 10:07 pmI don't get the Kyrpianou love in either. I agree that there should be someone else available and Hector shouldn’t necessarily be playing every single game, but that’s not his fault.

Re: Ratings.
I sort of know what he means in that I am not sure hector has had a shot in anger in the however many games he has played so far. It’s a given that Pratley has not troubled the scorers. With two players almost guaranteed to end up with nul points for the season it does put pressure on everyone else. Thing is a goal scoring all action central midfielder is rather expensive and hector is still young. Hopefully he kicks on some more.

Re: Ratings.
Kyprianou may be a 'kid' but has quite a lot of experience now.
He was really poor on Saturday and worse tonight. Last act was to stand on the ball and fall over which summed his night up.
Needs to be dropped for a while

Re: Ratings.
I get that he's still learning his trade but he's nowhere near good enough to be starting every week and besides being a willing runner, doesn't contribute anything offensively or distribution wise. May be I'm overlooking some good defensive work, in which case my original point stands, he's not a good partner for Pratley as we already have one defensive midfielder mopping things up.Ronnie Hotdogs wrote: ↑Tue Oct 19, 2021 10:09 pmHe’s a 20 year old kid. Really hope Reiley comes good and stays fit as it'd our weakest position by far at the moment.

End of the day it's about having players that win us promotion, whether we develop their careers isn't the primary objective.Ronnie Hotdogs wrote: ↑Tue Oct 19, 2021 10:09 pmHe’s a 20 year old kid. I’m happy for him to make a few mistakes as he learns the game, so long as he keeps progressing.

The midfield definitely needs some spark in there but can't see us bringing another CM in until Reilly has had opportunity, just hope he hits the ground running.

This, this and this. If Ruel starts he must start in the middle, not on the wing.Apple Wumble wrote: ↑Tue Oct 19, 2021 9:59 pm Ruel is the best finisher we have at the club. We should be building our front line around him imo

Re: Ratings.
Being too harsh on Hector. His biggest problem is he is playing next to a Pratley. If he had a offensive minded playmaker type of guy next to him then he’d be able to really play his game which is sweeping balls up and finding the closest teammate who can create something.
Hector is not and never will be the catalyst of our team he is the guy that “assists the assist” and in order to fully blossom as that player he needs someone next to him who can find the assist.
This is obviously a problem as we need Pratleys experience and know how in the middle so im hoping Kemp (who was good tonight and made us better than the past couple weeks) or maybe Reilly will step up and be that guy. Up The O’s.

So they can wander off to a Championship side for peanuts? Promotion is the objective, couldn't care less if we develop players or buy them in as long as we get the prize come end of the season.Apple Wumble wrote: ↑Tue Oct 19, 2021 10:42 pmDeveloping our own players is absolutely the objective.gshaw wrote: ↑Tue Oct 19, 2021 10:20 pmEnd of the day it's about having players that win us promotion, whether we develop their careers isn't the primary objective.Ronnie Hotdogs wrote: ↑Tue Oct 19, 2021 10:09 pm

If they're good enough they play, if not send them to the bench / Papa John's plastic cup games.

He’s also being played out of position. For a lot of the game tonight, he was playing as an offensive CM alongside Kemp with Pratley behind them both. His best role is playing deep and collecting them ball from the defence and moving it on to the players who can spark something.
Re: Ratings.
Omotoye is just a waste of loan, tonight he was 4th choice forward on the bench tonight, when we need more competition in midfield while we wait for Rilley to get fit.
