I wash my hands about 20 times per day, i also disinfect everything i buy, before it goes into my fridge of cupboards. I wear masks whenever i go into any enclosed space, such as shops, hospitals, council buildings etcThe Mindsweep wrote: ↑Wed Oct 13, 2021 5:11 pm .....but people aren't bothered about COVID anymore. I take every precaution i can, because this pandemic is still active, and in fact infections are going up day by day at the moment. with about 40,000 new cases per day, that works out to 2.1 million new cases per year, which is horrendous.
Almost 140,000 have now died from covid.
Anyone not taking it seriously, is a fool

I’m with you on this, though perhaps not quite as strict. But people who take it seriously are in the minority.Jack wrote: ↑Wed Oct 13, 2021 5:33 pmI wash my hands about 20 times per day, i also disinfect everything i buy, before it goes into my fridge of cupboards. I thought that everyone knew that COVID is just a hoax so facemasks and washing hands etc. are irrelevant. The Mindsweep wrote: ↑Wed Oct 13, 2021 5:11 pm .....but people aren't bothered about COVID anymore. More people are going maskless everyday. Anyone still washing hands?
It's just a political issue hiding the fact that we were visited by aliens who infected us.

Re: 1,000 deaths a week....
Certainly not blase about Covid but 1000 deaths a week I guess is about 10% of total deaths. Of the 1000, many will be ill from other causes and would have died anyway. I do take precautions including wearing a mask in shops but I also accept that Covid is with us, quite possibly, at 72, for the rest of my life. With that in mind, I am attempting to enjoy the years I have left whilst I can.
Cases per the Zoe app are around 70000 per day, I guess at this level and with vaccinations we are approaching the level whereby the virus will find it harder and harder to find people to seriously infect-I think this is what scientists are aiming for so when we reach the peak winter season the NHS will not be put under pressure by covid

Haven't looked in depth at the stats for a while. How many are excess and which age groups are dying? Most of the infections are teens i believe.

Fully vaccinated
UK 68%
Fra 67%
Ger 65%
Sapin 78% .
It seems Europe has caught & passed
the uk in terms of vaccinations & yet the
infection rates in Those european countries are
massively lower.

Re: 1,000 deaths a week....
And you know for sure they are Covid-19 deaths because someone tested positive with a PCR test that inventor and Nobel prize winner Kary Mullis said should never be used as a diagnostic tool.
You still believe the government narrative after 18 months of this bullshit….jeez. No excess deaths where is the pandemic but keep pumping those injections from the big pharma criminals (like health comes out of a needle). You know the one that doesn’t work (Israel is talking about a 4th) with no liability, no animal testing no long term data. Turn off the BBC stop reading the bought media and it all goes away.

Re: 1,000 deaths a week....
While I take COVID seriously I would question the actual death count. It seems a lot of people died from other complications, however as they had Covid within the last 28 days that was the cause put in the death certificate.
We will never know that true amount who have sadly passed away as a direct result but it is no where near the 140k mentioned.

Is not transmission of the virus airborne? This tends to make hand washing irrelevant.

Not irrelevant is it? Yes someone could cough in your vicinity, but when some of those droplets land on a surface, perhaps you'd touch that and then bite your fingernails and get infected that way?

And, frequent hand hygiene is also a good way of preventing the spread of other diseases. Seems like a no-brainer.
Which, of course, means we wont do it.

Re: 1,000 deaths a week....
We'll all get round 3 boosters as the evidence from Israel is that a third shot has a massive impact on transmission, not just mitigating the impact of covid if/when you get it.
The job the vaccines are doing is absolutely incredible, really didn't think we'd be in a place of near normality this quickly and be able to stick with it (for now). Still a bit nervy about the potential for a new variant to knock us off course but given that the numbers were horrendous in summer when we reopened, we are in a much better place than I think most assumed we would be.
Evidence of surface transmission is almost non existent I thought? All the science boffins I hear talking about covid say this is one of their biggest frustrations, that government still talks about handwashing but does nothing on improving indoor ventilation, which is a much better way of reducing case numbers.
Ending mask mandates was bafflingly stupid, an easy cost free thing that people were nearly all complying with.
