Re: Russell Slade: Players’ Performance Data
Be interesting to see where this goes.
On the face of it, he'd seem to have a point, but I'm not sure too many pro-footballers even at the bottom of the pyramid are exactly scraping by.
Sounds like a scheme to direct money from the many to the few dressed up as altruism.

Re: Russell Slade: Players’ Performance Data
Its all a nonsense. We have leading goalscorer tables each year. Is this personal data, are these going to be scrapped. Where does it end ? Then we have assists. We can record goals and not assists ? This is all data freely viewable and recordable to the watching public. Perhaps data such as yardage run collected by monitors is personal, but this data is used by the players own club, I suspect with the players permission for the club to do what they like with. Incorrect data being sold and misused is another matter.

Re: Russell Slade: Players’ Performance Data
I understand the concern but seriously? If I'm doing a survey where I stand outside a shop and count how many steps it takes people to walk past the window display am I stealing these people's steps? It seems problematic to say that I am. Do you actually own my observations of how many times you touch a ball? Really? I get that data collection, collation and distribution is big business but that doesn't mean that Jimmy Clogger of Shatchester United is entitled to a piece.
I'm open to having my mind changed on this but it just reminds me so much of those crusty, old rock star dinosaurs who sue everyone under 45 out of sight for having the audacity to use the any of the same musical notes as them even though there are only 11 to choose from.

His mate (I think he may have been his best man at Russ' wedding) was either a shareholder or head of sales at a performance data business.Apple Wumble wrote: ↑Tue Oct 12, 2021 11:02 am doesn't slade or one of his mates own one of the data companies on players?

Hopefully he's better at legal battles than he is getting teams promoted

Re: Russell Slade: Players’ Performance Data
Seems a bit hypocrotical too, I cant believe Slade never used these data analysis companies in any of his managerial stints.
