What is the very first thing that is likely to happen if you seed a story "There's no need to PANIC BUY!" ? What are people most likely to do immediately after reading/hearing that story?

So now we have a ready made set of "villains" of the piece, and we all focus on them, tutting over our breakfasts, hitting the frowny face on fizzbook stories, and competing with each other about how OUTRAGED we are by our fellow citizens, all the while not looking at those who have actually been in charge of the country, making the decisions that have led to this situation.

No doubt theres a shortage of lorry drivers but, kind of difficult to tell if there would be enough 'stuff' to go around if people werent being greedy.

Am fortunate that we're not overly reliant on cars for work / personal use so not as affected. Neither car has more than 1/3 of a tank but I can't really be arsed to go and queue for 2 hours when I'm not going anywhere anyway.

What does concern me is the problem being the inability to move petrol quick enough to meet demand. Every time a petrol station has a delivery it's surrounded as soon as the tanker pulls up. Until there's enough drivers to move it all, it'll be a vicious circle of supply being constantly depleted before the situation can stabilise.

Actually, panic buyers are being eminently sensible, and understand the situation far better than the government.

The government says there is plenty of fuel, so there is no need to panic buy. Panic buyers also know there is plenty of fuel, but that others will be panic buying, so there won't be any at their pumps when they need it. They have recognised a shortage well before the government.
