Re: Tory Watch
How does a private landlord evicting tenants equate to the Tories making families homeless?
Hope it works out for these two but it's clearly irresponsible to have a baby when you don't have enough emergency funds to cover 6 months' living expenses. Their £450pcm rent isn't even that much either
Hate sob stories like these - lets blame everything on evil landlords and not address the wider issues of how people can be more financially responsible

Re: Tory Watch
Pretty sure that Jenrick fella said no family would lose their home because of Covid, and he would not lie.
Says a lot about the character of certain people to hear a tragic tale like this (a real story with real people with real names) and blame them for being financially irresponsible, when it’s clearly the Government that’s let them down.
Nasty etc etc

Not denying Jenrick is incompetent but you realise there was an eviction ban during Covid right? It's financially responsible to have plans in place for a) a rainy day and b) paying for a child's upbringing - keep screaming at the government and calling them the nasty scummy party though. That'll solve the problems of people like these

As it wouldnt be hard to prove would it .
Maybe The Ex Health Secretaries Sister could have
advised him to tell the govt to speculate some of there budget on

The government has said it has to "prepare for the worst" as the
UK's energy firms continue to come under pressure from soaring gas prices.
****
Why are they preparing for the " worst " ?
I thought our Right Wingers said there wasnt a problem .

FFS getting back to the original argument now - don't want to go all still wrong
The govt can't be blamed for making families homeless if a private landlord chooses to legally evict a tenant
Screaming scummy and nasty party doesn't fix things for these ppl, but then I've never associated the left with wanting to solve problems

This family have been evicted because the Government did not support them during the pandemic. It’s as simple as that.

Indeed Frankfurter is Fully Correct on this point .
If the goverment had supported the thousands who are being evicted up &
down the country during the pandemic there would be an 80% + fall in evictions now.
The Story Party claims homelessness is not rising as this article clearly states .

But also Homeless deaths have Risen under this
Sorry f*cking excuse of a Government .

Does it not say that homelessness is rising but below pre pandemic levels. That does not appear to indicate that it was/is the pandemic that was the major cause.tuffers#1 wrote: ↑Thu Sep 23, 2021 8:49 pm Indeed Frankfurter is Fully Correct on this point .

The case in question was unfortunate . Enough help financially has been given during the pandemic . Probably more could have been done to help people in his situation .
Perhaps you should mention the good measures that were introduced that helped millions of people survive the pandemic that otherwise would not have done rather than concentrating on this individual.
The fact is that , as usual , plenty of people would have used the pandemic as as excuse not to pay rent. Difficult to separate the honest who are really in need of help , and the cheating scum who rinse the system
