Isnt GM food what Bidge is askink Jo for ?

"all available land "

arr you quite sure ?

There are 100s of sports pitches up& downt the country not being usrd , there are thousands of miles of national parks not being used , dont talk twaddle about us using all available land .

Raise taxes so we can cover the cost of food production meaning wr can eat cheaply .

Again its Agriculture
Not Rocket Science !
Don’t talk twaddle says the master of twaddle. Do you have any idea of the purpose of national parks. Are you aware of climate change. Do you understand anything about ecology or the environment and how it is all interlinked.
By raising taxes , the only people that would be eating cheaply would be the poor , low end earners. I love that idea
of course i understand ecology
My Mums family were farmers
My Dads grandparents were Farmers .

ive never heard a scientist yet say
wheat corn maize vegetables & fruit or rice has had anything to do with Climate Change . Please provide a link if you can find one .

Taxation of the wealthy & Buisness would provide all we need too in the way of food .
Didn’t say anything about farmed food being linked to climate change although , of course , it is . Clearing forests for farmland and grazing are one of the major causes of climate change and I am sure , even you , would have heard of harmful emissions from cattle. Perhaps have another chat with that scientist.
My problem was your suggestion about destroying national parks to turn them into farmland. Why do you think National parks are protected in law

National Parks are not all trees .

Forests can stay as they are .

where have i mentioned creating grazing for meat ?

Again you are conflating 2 arguments .
please try & Stick to the points raised !

Ok. I will stick with one. Unfortunately, the mass production of wheat , corn , maize , vegetables, and fruit and rice have everything to do with climate change. Huge areas of pristine habitat , along with the ecosystem it supports , is destroyed in the process. It is not the only cause but it is a serious one.
You cannot solve one problem by creating another. Building more , producing more to support an ever growing population that some on here want to increase further , isn’t the solution. It’s the opposite

Please show Evidence that planting & Cultivation of fruit & veg & rice & wheat
affects Climate Change ?

1 bit of reliable scientific evidence ?

in fact it is Co2 emmisions which are doing more damage with regards to climate change .
But thats being covered in another thread .

As I explained earlier , it is what is destroyed to make way for their cultivation that is one cause of climate change. There are plenty of other causes. And with more mouths to feed , more natural habitat and everything that relies on it has to go.
We have moved so far from the point now and we will eventually go full circle back to my first post. Someone suggested that we are mean spirited for not welcoming any number of migrants. I disagree. We need less , not more people. I don’t care about the make up of our population. It’s not about race. It’s about numbers

And so you know , it is the forests that we destroy that absorb CO2. They convert CO2 into carbohydrates to grow. That’s why they are so important

How do you destroy Miles & Miles of open moors by planting vegetables ?

all you destroy is grass & plants do far more for the climate than grass does

Cut.Co2 emissions
produce less meat eat more sustainable products .

Climate Change will level off .
Raised Taxation will ay for all of this .

Apart from eating less meat , I can’t begin to explain how wrong that all is. I am not in anyway being dismissive of your views , but you need a better understanding of the ecosystem and how everything in it is in some way linked and reliant on each other for its survival. So , for example , you are not just removing grass from , let’s say the Cairngorms. You are removing a multitude of different plants , all unique to that habitat , and every living thing that relies on those unique plants and each other for survival.
I would love to bore you for hours on the subject but others would probably leave the forum and ban me

poppycock

Where have i said you need to remove anything other than grass ?

You are now just trying to argue your way out of another debate you are not able to win .

i ask once again , Show me your Scientific Proof that agriculture in a non meat prodoctioj way
harms the climate & is anyway responsible for climate change .

I think we will be through the next Ice age before you do that !

What really is the issue here?
Obviously more people would require more food. Simple maths.
Tell me what your plan is along with your ever growing population
You’re talking tosh.

There is not ‘more people’ having a negative environmental impact. There is the same amount of people globally, just here rather than somewhere else.

So if overcrowding isn’t the issue, and negative environmental impact isn’t the issue, what really is the issue here?

we are not at full capacity of available land for farming .

which is very different to your conclusion of wjat i said .

What I did say was " eat less meat , produce & eat more sustainable fruit veg rice & corn/maize ".

I’ve googled it and apparently we have 281 people per square kilometre. That’s higher than most other countries but not as much as some.

But what does it mean? Is that really a lot? Is that what overcrowding looks like?

Just so we are clear .

" In our modernized society we produce too much CO2 (Carbon Dioxide) and if it is not causing global warming, the excess levels certainly don’t help the problem. One way to get rid of excess CO2 is to grow more plants. Plants take in CO2 and using photosynthesis they convert it to carbon and oxygen. The oxygen is released into the air and the carbon is used to build plant parts like wood, leaves, stems etc. A mature forest holds vast quantities of carbon.

It is ‘common knowledge’ that forests are great at removing excess CO2 – right? This is a myth–for details see my post Do Forests Remove CO2? But for now let’s assume that forests do remove CO2. Following this line of logic, it seems to make sense that a lawn would also remove CO2 from the air. Grass after all is a plant and as plants grow they do remove CO2 from the air.

Grass does remove CO2 from the air, but growing grass also produces CO2 – this is called a ‘carbon cost’. How much CO2 is being produced in growing and maintaining the grass? ".

Which is why we should have grown up discussions about population . There should be an upper and lower limit that we should sit somewhere in between. Its a global issue . There are too many people placing too many demands on the limited resources available . We are at the top of the food chain and we are the only ones with the capability to change our current direction.
Or you can take Tuffers path when he said" There is no point keeping National parks , areas of special scientific interest if there will be nobody left to enjoy them".
How about , " if we didn't have National parks , areas of special scientific interest , we wouldn't be here anyway."

Come with me on a thought experiment, if you will. Let’s imagine an area 1km square. That’s 1,000 metres by 1,000 metres, so by my reckoning that’s 1,000,000 little 1 metre squares. If you put 1 person into each of these squares, you’d fill up 281 of them. This would leave 999,719 empty squares.

I’m not sure we’re that overcrowded after all.

It’s ok, there are 999,719 squares to choose from.

There are other wives, too.
