This weeks NEW SIGNING Thread

Post by Rich Tea Wellin »

Can only assume that as the players are coming back to training this week, we will see some new faces in the building (and hopefully none out).

Any predictions or rumours out there?

Can see this thread leading to some angry people wrongly thinking this means we are definitely signing players this week. Hopefully they get that this is not the official club view.

Having looked at Matty Stevens scoring record , I am not at all overjoyed at the prospect of signing him. Seems Peterborough don’t fancy him and what looked to be a promising career has gone off the rails.
I would like to see us sign coulthurst who we could get for peanuts from Barnet. Fast, reads the game well and knows how to score.

I was gonna ask about him, as his name has been floated around a bit. Seems like he was a classic Posh signing from non-league but he hasn't really worked out. Anyone know anything about him as i assume he was rated, but not any more?\

Coulthurst would be a decent signing.

IMO we could get one of them but would still need a PROVEN goalscorer at this level.

With all due respect, whats your point?

The open post states, 'i assume'. No ones saying we will but in the last week of June, when the club probably needs 4-5 new players, and the squad are coming back for pre-season, i'd say its not to remote to assume that we might sign a player or two this week.

We had Coulthirst here on loan think he played 2 games and scored in 1 then Slade binned him off I remember him saying that Coulthirst had an attitude problem
Maybe he’s changed that now little bit older etc
Did play well for Barnet against us but I thought Wesley Fonguck looked a lot better

Wesley Fonguck is a central midfielder and we really should get him in. He has a great engine and scores goals.

Seems so far on this thread I would be in the minority, but wouldn't want Coulthirst at all.

When we get a striker he has to have a quality proven goal scoring record to at least equal Josh Koroma !!!

Callum Gribbin was released by United. If any club can get him and sort his head out, there’s a great player. Might be too much of a risk.

DJ Buffonge. Even if he’s no good as a player he can always do the club’s social events.

Had you checked out Bonnes record pre Orient it's unlikely you'd have been happy with that either. But statistics only tell a part of the story Stevens was signed from Barnet with a great reputation after scoring for fun at junior levels but in the same way Bonne was never played as a striker by Col U or stuck on the bench, Stevens has barely had a look in at Posh if someone unlocks his potential as we did with Bonne they are going to get a very good player.

According to Darragh McAntonhy the Posh chairman our interest in Stevens has cooled and we haven't been in touch with them. Could be with money in our pocket we are looking elsewhere.

Has two years left on his contract so they'll want a fee. Don't fancy a strike force that consists of two players yet to do the business at League level.

I accept its a bit of an unknown but let's just do that anyway. If we have faith in them everything will be fine.

Which would have been the case for Bonne and Koroma if we somehow managed to keep them.

I would think with the goings on at the club they wouldn't want to take the chance on someone upsetting the changing room I honestly think selection will be a little bit harder this season

Most of our squad have yet to do the business at League level.

Why not take both. Would be two very good signings. Now we're back in the EFL, I reckon we could get both of them as well
