Find it hard to see why fat blokes chucking arrows at a board should not be deemed sport as opposed to fat, public school thickos banging heads together and snapping necks (rugby) is considered to be sport

That is not changing in order to play the sport. Likewise wearing a Pringle jumper doesn't help your golf, just makes you look like Ronnie Corbett.

I googled Wikipedia on the subject of Darts and noticed that in the first few words of explanation they describe Darts as ''a competitive sport'' !

''Darts or dart-throwing is a competitive sport in which two or more players bare-handedly throw small sharp-pointed missiles known as darts at a round target known as a dartboard''
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Darts

Also When is a sport not a sport ?

Golf isnt about wearing a Jumper .

a 7K walk whilst carrying a bag approx 25 kg
then at par 72 swings of a golf.club
putting immense strain on the body if it does it correctly .

if it doesnt you need to ask golfers about all
the injuries they suffer .

However
back to Darts .

its still changing & that was
your criteria for Sport .

you didnt define "changing " enough .

Golf is not a sport its a pastime. You can you pick up a club and play. For those at the very top they can complicate it by having loads of clubs etc, but essentially its a game where you try to get your ball into 18 holes in less shots than your opponents.

Swimming is therefore a pastime rather than a sport.

You can jump in the water and splash about. Those at the very top can have lane markings and a stopwatch, but essentially it's a game where you ty to get to the end of the pool in less seconds than your opponent.

See also: running

I can run* in my jeans and t-shirt. Does that mean running isn't a sport. I'm just trying to get to the line in less** seconds than my opponents.

* I can't run
** fewer

‘Not an interesting one?’

Do you play the piano? If you cannot, it is not an interesting instrument. If you can, like me, it is marvellous!

Well I didn't expect this level of controversy when I started the thread.

Too many sports are being dragged in and rubbished and the focus on darts being a pub game played by fat blokes has been diluted. Shame really.
