Vigouroux. 6. Nothing much to do aside from pick the ball out of the net. Twice.
Wood. 7. Thought he had another good game. Got forward well and comfortable on the ball.
Beccles. 7. Defence is a strong point of ours and all the back 5 played well.
Ogie. 7. Good game again. A little wobbly in first 10 minutes but he settled down.
Mitchell. 7. Bloke is a tank. Definitely been eating his greens.
James. 6. Not his best game. No major errors though.
Clay. 5.5. You learn not to do stupid tackles in the box when you first put on your boots. Not for the first time, Clay does a ridiculous challenge for no apparent reason. Rest was typical Clay, a honest and hard working lower league central midfield player that won’t get you promoted.
Pratley. 7. Good game and didn’t stop running for the 90 mins
Archibald. 5. After last weeks heroics he was pretty awful. Shots were landing in Ebbw Vale.
Smith. 7.5. MOM. Gets the converted award for his two goals. Won plenty of headers. For a really big bloke with muscles he doesn’t like to get stuck in though. Have a feeling he is one of those players that the crowd will get on the back of, if he has not scoring. That’s for another day though.
Drinnan. 5. Missed a couple of chances. Ran into blind alleys. Will not score 20 goals a season.

Subs. 6. No impact.

Jackett. 7. Had the game plan for the win (whack it up to smith and chase it) until Newport went 3 at the back and we held on for the last 20 mins. He will probably be disappointed initially but happy on reflection.

Newport. 6. Been on a terrible run so will be pleased.

Ref. 8. How I like my refs. Completely forgot how to blow his pea.
