Sounds like he got an earful from the latest missus after spilling red wine on the sofa. Sh!t happens. Probably not the thing that costs the bumbling buffoon his coveted PM gig.

Look at the stats , when was the last time we had a budget surplus? That is the last time we had austerity.StillSpike wrote: ↑Wed Jun 19, 2019 9:19 amStill's Carenae wrote: ↑Tue Jun 18, 2019 10:30 pm
Still waiting for austerity. Last time was in 2003.
We now have the largest tax rates since 1969. So the money is going in and we are still have a budget deficit.
Also, that's pretty odd - given that the austerity programme was only introduced in 2010.
You're not just making sh*t up and tossing it out in the hope that folk will believe it, are you? You've made these claims before on here and I've yet to see your workings....
Austerity is a media thing. Nothing to do with reality.
The overall tax we pay is high. I had no idea just how high it is. These figures I understand come from the obr.
I an too busy working to undertake the research.

Re: Boris
"According to Merriam-Webster, it can mean having a stern or serious quality, or refer to an enforced or extreme economy. The closest dictionary definition of austerity, as it’s used by economists, comes in the Oxford dictionary, and describes it as ‘difficult economic conditions created by government measures to reduce public expenditure’.
So a budget surplus may well be the supposed purpose behind austerity, but just because it's not been successful in creating a surplus (it won't) doesn't mean that the country's not been suffering from austerity nor that the Tory Government hasn't been pursuing such a policy by slashing public expenditure.
Again - in 1979 the top rate of income tax was 83% and the standard rate was 33%. Thatcher dropped those to 60% and 30% respectively, and they've been dropping ever since - to being 45% and 20% now.
It's plain wrong to state " We now have the largest tax rates since 1969" - it's just bullshit.

Bonkers, I presume you don't think of yourself as an economist but insist on a strict definition of "austerity" (a budget surplus). Unless we are living through good times and generating significant tax receipts your definition means that the public services are being decimated even more than they are now. Stick to the football bro!Still's Carenae wrote: ↑Sat Jun 22, 2019 10:18 pmLook at the stats , when was the last time we had a budget surplus? I can’t see the whole report, but it’s headlines say we are paying the highest amount of tax ever. Can someone post up the actual report please? That way we can see how they have arrived at that conclusion / headline. Cheers.

Not sure why Johnson is weakening dramatically in the betting market (still favorite). The Tory party membership are mainly white blokes, over 60, wealthy and from the south. Mistresses and giving the mrs a dig is just what they do (allegedly). The papers are projecting their virtue into the contest. This stuff about him is meaningless. If he comes into 1-2 I will be having a big bet.

I think you’re right. Also seen a few of the rags coming up with stories digging into the leftie grasses who have tried to stitch him up over this. And the same rags trying to discredit the protester Field assaulted, too.

It’s gonna get a whole lot better for everyone.
I say this as I hope, pray and believe that good times will be made for all, in an equal, fair and just society.
If we don’t have hope, what do we have left?

An equal, fair and just society is never gonna be delivered by a man who represents exactly why our society is none of those things.
We do have hope though. We just have to wait until this nightmare is over first.

Boris for PM is a metaphor for the depths unto which the UK has sunk. He supports a " sport " which involves a pack of undisciplined hounds ripping an alive animal to shreds.

He was also banging on yesterday about how he was the only one who supported the bankers post 2008. Which is arguably even worse.

This may sound perverse. I have a good friend who is a farmer. He says that the suffering that they can have from supposedly more humane ways, can lead to the animal suffering possibly for days, is far worse than the hunt. He obviously speaks first hand.
I don't like hunts. But I do understand how difficult some animals are to the farm environment. Unfortunately, I have seen this first hand on a farm, where the chickens area was thought to be impregnable. A fox got in and killed at least 20. This was an undisciplined hound ripping live animals to shreds. The farmer (a different one to above) said that the fox did not even take one for food.

Re: Boris
Most foxes in the countryside have been dumped there by well meaning (and not well meaning) people from the cities. We get hundreds dropped out here. They have no survival instincts, there is barely any food and they get shot by farmers. It’s tragic. The hunt a couple of times a year is the least of their concerns. I don’t hear the same people that go apoplectic about fox hunting say a peep about halal slaughter which is 100 times worse and happens thousands of times a day. Funny that, I wonder why.

Re: Boris
The market for halal slaughtered animals in the UK is estimated to be worth £2bn a year. It may take a non-stunned cow several minutes to lose consciousness after having its throat slit, but think of the return for shareholders.
