The dreaded Jackett long ball
Doesn't seem to be materialising.
Have to say, I was worried we'd be a hoof team but Kenny has the team playing some decent stuff.
Long may it continue

How refreshing it was to see actual crosses from our fullbacks today

Didn’t watch the game. Instead chatted with a Pompey fan who said that the team had no style and no substance under Kenny. And that the man himself had no emotion.
Feel like we’ve finally found someone who will fit in with what our club is all about.

and when our forwards realise there are decent balls coming into the box they might start getting on the end of them ,bit like our trialist did today.

Re: The dreaded Jackett long ball
We played some nice football today, a million miles away from the crap that was being played under Embleton, and then Jobi.
Our second goal was top notch in the build up

Yes, he should take leaf out of the book of most fans who show lots of emotion like ‘why, why , why, WTF?’

Re: The dreaded Jackett long ball
Comments from Pompey fans can be viewed partly on Jacket’s lack of getting promotion despite two play off appearances and cup finals at Wembley. A couple of Pompey fans I know well (I was born in Portsmouth and used to visit Fratton Park regularly until my mid-20s) really appreciate the work he did there in sometimes difficult circumstances. His win rate was 50% which is encouraging and different styles and methods are often needed for different jobs - I like the knowledgable way Kenny talks about football, Joe Gallen seems to be the one really vocally encouraging the players throughout the game and the team spirit seems high.
His time at Wolves, Millwall and before that Swansea offer different viewpoints with most supporters loving his work
So far Kenny seems to have got the team playing really well. There appears to be organisation, playing through the lines of midfield and sometimes knocking it longer. Overall the enthusiasm and style is mostly pleasing in the eye...
I’m a little underwhelmed personally by the scale of recruitment (although not the actual players) as I feel we are a little thin so far, yet I expect this to be addressed as the month and months go along
Time will tell of course but so far I’m very pleased

Re: The dreaded Jackett long ball
I don’t think we had the strikers for a ‘long ball’ game yesterday, but I think we might see more ‘ long passes’ with Harry Smith and Drinan in the line up.
It will be interesting to see

Almost as good as the shout of FORWARD halfway through the move when Pratley turns and plays it back to HappeRonnie Hotdogs wrote: ↑Sun Aug 01, 2021 8:46 am Just seen the highlights, that second goal yesterday
