Today there are 5001 people in hospital with COVID 19.
On this day last year there were 1538.
Today there were 84 deaths and a seven day average of 55.
On this day last year there were 53 deaths with a seven day average of 62.
All this is on the above Government link under Patients in Hospital with COVID 19, under the Data section.
Can anybody seriously have any faith in a rushed vaccine based on the above figures.
They are pushing it again now because they can take some comfort from the vaccination programme. There has to be a vaccine before herd immunity is viable.
The gamble is twofold: Will more deadly variants develop from mass infection? Politically how many deaths can the public turn a blind Covid eye to?

Comparing a single day to the previous year makes no sense as it needs to be taken into the context of the outbreak (e.g. lockdown, restrictions, etc), surely you understand that. These tables and charts should help simplify it for youStill wrong wrote: ↑Fri Jul 23, 2021 6:28 pm https://coronavirus.data.gov.uk/details ... n_hospital

This could be seen as an inability to controll infection rates but with a trade off in a lower deaths rate per population.
But that would sugest we are happy with the current death rate and deem it an acceptable norm.
So further restriction could decrease it but for how long and at what other cost to society.
Also i might add are covid deaths still calculated the same way, in the begining if you got hit by a car or died of other complications and were covid positive this counted as a covid death.

They changed that. It is now counted as a Covid death if someone tests positive within 28 days prior to death.

No, but you can compare hospital admissions with COVID.
Last summer there was hardly any, and this was without a vaccine and mask wearing.

Coming from someone who thinks he is perfectly safe sitting next to someone who received two COVID vaccinations tells me all I need to know.

The second wave is taken from the 8th September 2020.
The third wave is taken from the 14th May this year. ( the beginning of the summer)
No comparison whatsoever and incredibly stupid to think it is.

Nothing is ever perfectly safe but we still do things. For example, you get in a car and put a seat belt on but that won’t always save you in an accident but you stand a better chance wearing it than not

Re: Premier League to make vaccines mandatory
The figures need to be put into context.
Firstly the number of overall deaths each day should be advised along with the covid figures. Average number of people dying each day is around 1700. This will put numbers into better perspective.
Second the number of deaths from covid and those with covid as a secondary issue should be shown. The ONS have publicly stated that the figures are around 75/25 of the above.
Thirdly the number of people dying of flu and pneumonia should be shown as a separate figure. This will give a better a better perception of how strong the virus is.
But if you do this the media would not have a good story to tell. SPI-B have a lot to anawer for.

So you don't think the vaccine works. Don't worry you are in line with the government.PoundhillO wrote: ↑Thu Jul 22, 2021 5:30 pm People have the right not to have the vaccine but on the grounds of health and safety should not have he right to infect others, therefore I fully support the Premier League and any other clubs in the football pyramid that make it mandatory to only allow players and supporters into the ground that have both jabs and can prove it.
If supporters want to be stupid enough to put themselves at risk that's their personal choice but they have no right to put others at risk and therefore should not be allowed into football grounds.
But tell me, seeing as our main killers are all food related (nearly a 1000 people a day die from this in the UK). Do you think that only healthy unprocessed food and drink should be sold at football grounds?

Stephen Harmon, a member of the Hillsong megachurch, had been a vocal opponent of vaccines, making a series of jokes about not having the vaccine. "Got 99 problems but a vax ain't one," the 34-year-old tweeted to his 7,000 followers in June.
He was treated for pneumonia and Covid-19 in a hospital outside Los Angeles, where he died on Wednesday.

Deaths from having a Covid vaccine are of course tragic but are not in any way on the same massive scale.

Sadly people will die from lots of things. We try to keep the numbers down as best we can but it can never be stopped
