Acid Aatack in Walthamstow Market
A stallholder has been attacked by two men wearing burkas in the market this morning. They tapped him on the shoulder and squirted acid in his face.
Remember the outrage on here after Farage was milkshakes and people said he deserved it? Or when brand made her silly comments?
Well it's now happened on our doorstep. Disgusting. The law needs to be tightened against people who carry knives, guns, acid, it's time we got tough on these scrums bags, cos that's what they are.

What the f*** has this got to with Farage getting a milkshake thrown on his suit?
From the photos, looks like the fella has had a lucky escape - fingers crossed for him.

How would you tighten up the law against carrying knives, guns and acid?Thor wrote: ↑Fri Jun 21, 2019 3:05 pm A stallholder has been attacked by two men wearing burkas in the market this morning. They tapped him on the shoulder and squirted acid in his face.

Part of Jo Brands comedy act, following the Farage milk shake incident, Brand commented about why not use battery acid. Following the outrage it was edited out, but not after its first showing.CreamofSumYungGai wrote: ↑Fri Jun 21, 2019 3:22 pm What the f*** has this got to with Farage getting a milkshake thrown on his suit?

I'm aware of a comedian making an offensive joke at Farages expense. What the heck has that got to do with this poor sod?

Totally unacceptable they way Brands free speech was restricted like that. For me that is the real outrage here.dOh Nut wrote: ↑Fri Jun 21, 2019 3:44 pmPart of Jo Brands comedy act, following the Farage milk shake incident, Brand commented about why not use battery acid. Re: Acid Aatack in Walthamstow Market
Knife - currently the sentence is up to 4 years for carrying even if not used. I'd propose 5 years to be served without probation for 1st offence, double it for 2nd offence
Gun - currently the sentence is 5 years min for carrying even if not used. I'd propose 10 years to be served without probation for 1st offence doubled for for 2nd offence.
Acid - currently the sentance is 6 months min. I'd propose to bring it in line with knife crime and make it 5 years without probation doubled for 2nd offence
It's about time we got tough on crime and let the idiots that undertake such violent acts know we are not going to mess around anymore. You will be held accountable and you will go to jail. Only when there is an genuine deterrent will we see a reduction in violence.

It was viewed by some as condoning the use of acid as a weapon to throw at people. Making light of what is a serious thing.CreamofSumYungGai wrote: ↑Fri Jun 21, 2019 3:45 pm I'm aware of a comedian making an offensive joke at Farages expense. What the heck has that got to do with this poor sod?

So predictable. The jails are full to bursting with people who a deterrent had no effect on whatsoever. Deterrence doesn't work. Think again this time more widely.Thor wrote: ↑Fri Jun 21, 2019 4:28 pm Knife - currently the sentence is up to 4 years for carrying even if not used. If only peeps would get so upset that austerity policies has seen our beat bobbies cut back so much. Without them knowing and regularly patrolling the neighbourhood, getting the nod about wrong ‘uns from the locals, and acting as a frontline deterrent, we’re going to see more of this.

If deterrents don’t work just lock em up for 20 years. They cannot do it again inside a 10 by 8 cell. Choice is deter or lock up. Or just have Lawless streets without doing anything to stop it.Max B Gold wrote: ↑Fri Jun 21, 2019 4:37 pmSo predictable. I'm open to suggestions like Slackers in the post above for example. Just not old stale failed suggestions like Thors. I'm thinking tackling poverty legalising some drugs and creating opportunities usually helps.

Not denying cuts to the police, but rarely saw any police on the streets pre austerity.slacker wrote: ↑Fri Jun 21, 2019 4:38 pm If only peeps would get so upset that austerity policies has seen our beat bobbies cut back so much. Re: Acid Aatack in Walthamstow Market
Whilst we could do with more coppers the actual sentences that are handed out right now do not provide enough of a deterrent. Fact.
I was talking to a policeman 2 weeks ago who was investigating a fraud against a vulnerable person. I asked him what the issues are that he faces the most. He said knife crime, violent crime, drugs. I said it pisses me off that May cut the police numbers and that I'd pay more in tax to stop that from happening. Whilst he agreed it was unfortunate that it happened and that she is not liked at all by the police, he said the bigger issue is the sentences handed down by the courts is weak and that the cps is not strong enough at times to take cases on.
He finished by saying until you take away their liberty they will not change. A person carrying a knife cos he might run in to another gang is willing to take that chance cos the punishment is weak.

Re: Acid Aatack in Walthamstow Market
So would all those who'd bought mr muscle
( other brands are available) drain cleaner, or some caustic soda , or other shop bought home use acid be liable to these sentences ?
I ask as a couple of weeks ago i bought some drain cleaner & caustic soda.
Theoretically i could do time in JAIL .

Look at the incident at Stratford bus garage last weekend. Four plod try to deal with some youths accused of theft on a bus and find themselves surrounded by a group of 100+ looking out for their brethren.

Re: Acid Aatack in Walthamstow Market
I lived a mile from an estate in Tottenham, notorious estate. Some 40+ years ago. It was then an accepted no go area for the police and they admitted as such. Police losing control of areas has been around for years, as has the gang culture that drives it. If there was a simple solution I’m sure it would have been found by now.
In the meantime just keep as many villains as you can off the streets. People carry knives, guns, even acids without a reasonable reason, lock em up. Keep them away from decent people. If you can’t resolve the problem just lock it away.
